Nano. Bigger than you think.

With a trillion pages printed each year on digital presses, the commercial success of digital printing is beyond dispute.
Nevertheless it has only nibbled around the edges of mainstream printing, producing barely 2% of all printed pages.
The reason? Despite all of the attributes which have enabled digital printing to succeed, for the most part it has remained
uncompetitive with offset for all but the shortest of runs, with low speed, narrow paper range and high cost per page
being the main limiting factors.

Landa is now set to ignite the second digital revolution in print with its portfolio of Nanographic Printing
TM
presses that
offer the versatility of digital with the qualities and speed of offset printing.
Led by the father of digital printing, Benny Landa, who started the digital printing revolution in 1993 with the Indigo
digital press, the Company is launching Nanography
TM
, an entirely new way of printing. The result of ten years of
nanotechnology research, this process is a true breakthrough that allows Landa Nanographic Printing
TM
Presses to
achieve remarkable results.

The Landa Nanographic
Printing Process
Landa NanoInk
TM
At the heart of the Nanographic Printing process is Landa NanoInk. Comprised of pigment particles only tens of
nanometres in size (a nanometre is about 100,000 times thinner than a human hair), these nano-pigments are extremely
powerful absorbers of light and enable unprecedented image qualities. Landa Nanographic Printing is characterized
by ultra-sharp dots of extremely high uniformity, high gloss delity and the broadest CMYK colour gamut of any printing
process.
Nanography
TM
The Landa Nanographic Printing process creates images of remarkable abrasion and scratch resistance. Most
notably, it can print on virtually any off-the-shelf substrate, from coated and uncoated paper stocks to recycled
carton; from newsprint to plastic packaging lms - all without requiring any kind of pre-treatment or special
coating - and no post-drying. Adding to this cost benet is the fact that Nanographic images are only 500
nanometres thick - about half the thickness of offset images - enabling Landa NanoInk to produce the lowest
cost-per-page digital images in the industry. And all of this from a water-based, energy-efcient and eco-friendly process.
Nanography lets you print on any off-the-shelf paper,
carton or plastic packaging lm.
Landa Nanographic Printing Presses
The Landa family of six Nanographic Printing Presses includes B3, B2 and B1 sheetfed presses that operate at up to
13,000 sheets per hour for commercial and packaging printing. Web presses for publishing and exible packaging print
at up to 200 metres per minute on substrates from 56 cm to 105 cm in width. They can print in up to eight colours at
600 or 1200 dpi.
Such performance places Landa Nanographic Printing Presses squarely in the heart of mainstream printing. For the
rst time, commercial printers dont have to choose between the versatility and short-run economics of digital printing
and the low cost-per-page and high productivity of offset printing. Now they can have both.

Landa Nanographic Printing Presses will be of interest to commercial printers and packaging converters for applications
that include general commercial printing, books, magazines, direct mail, labels, folding carton, transpromo and exible
packaging for food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and more.

The Landa Touchscreen
Nano. Bigger than you think.
All Landa Nanographic Printing Presses employ
the most amazing user-friendly touchscreen.
This oversize interactive display, with its intuitive man-machine interface, enables
even an untrained operator to quickly become a master. Machine controls appear
both on the left hand and right hand sides of the monitor, to enable convenient
operation from either the feeder or delivery end of the press.
The right side of the display is dedicated to job management where the operator
can conveniently organize the job queue, with built-in job management tools that
can suggest the optimum job sequences for maximum press utilisation.
On the left side of the display are all of the machine functions. The live interactive
graphics display the real-time status of every function in the press as well as live
images of the vital press functions, such as sheet feeding, image transfer and
sheet delivery. Every function, such as ink supply, paper supply and operational
status, are displayed in clear and intuitive graphics.

How can we prosper?
Everything that can become digital will become digital and printed media is
no exception. The key question is: When will this happen? Mankind has been
communicating with paper for 5,000 years and has been printing for almost
600 years. It will take many decades before most printed media is replaced
by iPads (or whatever they will be called by then).
The question you should be asking yourself is How can my business prosper
during as the print industry transitions to digital? In order to prosper you
dont have to become a digital print shop. Yes, digital shops are prospering
and there is growing demand for variable information, personalization, and
very-short run lengths. But that is only 2% of the market. Now you can go
after the 98%!
Go after mainstream commercial printing - which has not yet been touched
by the versatility of digital - with Landa Nanographic Printing Presses.
Nanography is not about opening new digital printing business opportunities;
its about making money from the business you already have. It allows you
to produce short-to-medium run lengths which your customers demand - at
less than the cost of offset printing. Nanographic Printing presses are not
a replacement for offset when you need to run jobs of tens or hundreds of
thousands. But if your customers are pressing you for shorter and shorter run
lengths which you cant now produce protably then Nanographic Printing
is for you. Indeed, nano is bigger than you think!
