Question: Please can you tell me where I can find a conversion chart for American quantities and the British equivalent. For example: (1) How many ounces in a "stick" of butter (2) the equivalent weights of "cups" (3) I find all this very confusing when I read American cookery books Thank you. - Molly Walters (4/27/01)

Answers: 1 pound of butter = 4 sticks or 4 cubes of butter = 2 cups of butter. 1 stick or cube of butter = 1/2 cup = 8 tablespoons of butter.
