In search of a national approach to professional supervision for mental health and addiction nurses: The New Zealand experience

ABSTRACT A competent nursing workforce is crucial for recovery of mental health and addiction service users. Professional supervision is central to facilitating this competency. This article reports on research that scoped the current provision of professional supervision then explores possibilities for developing a standardised national approach to professional supervision for mental health and addiction nurses in New Zealand. The study involved telephone and mail surveys with nurse leaders and current supervisors from district health boards and non-government organisations. The findings indicated that the majority of those canvassed were supportive of a nationally endorsed approach. Standardisation was seen as a means of assisting in the monitoring and quality refinement of the content and provision of professional supervision, and the training of supervisors. It was also recommended that to be successful, a national approach must incorporate partnerships with significant stakeholders in the sector, including service users and Maori. Health Science Students' Experiences of Group Supervision of the Bachelor's Thesis ABSTRACT The demand for clinical placements and quality clinical supervision for nursing students remains an international issue. In light of on-going concerns related to recruitment and retention of nurses and constraints on fiscal resources both in education and healthcare, the aim of this review was to compare the "preceptor-facilitator" clinical supervision model used at a Magnet hospital against the "preceptor" and "facilitator" clinical supervision models frequently used in the clinical learning environment in Australia. Methods: A qualitative-descriptive review was undertaken using first, second and third year undergraduate nursing student evaluations (n = 93). Evaluations were completed during the last three days of students' clinical placement using an electronic questionnaire. The questionnaire tool used open and closed questions to examine three main concepts: student-preceptor supervision; student-facilitation supervision; and the clinical learning environment. Findings: Three main themes emerged from the review. Firstly, how undergraduate nursing students highly valued the facilitator-student relationship; secondly, the importance of "support" as being an integral part of students' clinical learning experience and thirdly; the recognition of students being considered as part of the health care team and a valued contributor towards patient care. Conclusion: The preceptor-facilitation model described and evaluated in this review offers an excellent clinical supervision framework to support, nurture and foster a positive clinical learning environment for nursing students. This model of clinical supervision strategically aims not only to provide nursing students with high quality clinical supervision but offers nurses a supportive environment as preceptors and professional development opportunities through clinical facilitation. This review does highlight that there is a need for more research regarding the use of the preceptor-facilitator model to include the perspectives of both education and healthcare providers.

Abstract

Abstract: Leadership is the ability to provide a constructive influence others to do the business of the cooperative achieve the planned objectives. Motivation to work an employee is usually indicated by a continuous activity, and goal oriented. The purpose of this study is on the analysis of the relationship to the head of the room under the leadership of the nurse's perception of the motivation of nurses in the inpatient department Prof.Dr.R.D. Kandou F BLU Manado. Analytic survey research design using a cross-sectional approach. Popolasi that all nurses in the inpatient space F BLU Prof. Dr. R.D. Kandou Manado. Total sampling using sampling. Data processed through univariate and bivariate analysis using Chi square with Fisher's exact test alternatives. Results obtained by analysis of the probability (p) = 0.003 < (0.05), which means that Ho is rejected. Conclusion, an association under the leadership of head room nurse perceptions of the work motivation of nurses in the inpatient department Prof.Dr.RDKandou F BLU Manado. Suggestions, for a head irina F would increase the motivation to work more room nurses, and for nurses would be to maintain and further enhance the motivation to work better.

Pengaruh Pelaksanaan Supervisi Kepala Ruangan terhadap Kinerja Perawat Pelaksana di Rumah Sakit Islam Malahayati Medan Nainggolan, Mei Junita

Studi oleh Direktorat Keperawatan dan Keteknisian Medik Depkes RI bekerjasama dengan WHO tahun 2000 di 4 provinsi di Indonesia, yaitu DKI Jakarta, Sumatera Utara, Sulawesi Utara dan Kalimantan Timur, menemukan bahwa masih banyak perawat belum memiliki uraian tugas secara tertulis, perawat tidak pernah mengikuti pelatihan dalam 3 tahun terakhir, perawat masih melaksanakan tugas non keperawatan, serta belum dikembangkan system monitoring dan evaluasi kinerja perawat. Tujuan utama supervisi ialah untuk lebih meningkatkan kinerja bawahan, bukan untuk mencari kesalahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi sejauh mana pengaruh pelaksanaan supervisi terhadap kinerja perwat pelaksana di ruang rawat inap Abstract: Rumah Sakit Malahayati Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian deskriptif korelasi. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 74 orang. Untuk memperoleh informasi dari responden, peneliti menggunakan alat pengumpul data berupa kuesioner. Hasil penelitian didapat bahwa 86,5% pelaksanaan supervisi sudah dalam kategori baik dan 83,8% kinerja perawat pelaksana sudah dalam kategori baik. menggunakan uji Chi Square p= 0,03 (<0,05). Sehingga kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan ada pengaruh yang bermakna antara pelaksanaan supervisi kepala ruangan dengan kinerja perawat pelaksana. Disarankan pada penelitian selanjutnya agar melakukan penelitian dengan menggunakan metode observasi untuk mengurangi bias pada hasil penelitian.

Abstract Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menginvestigasi pengaruh komitmen organisasi terhadap hubungan antara gaya kepemimpinan dengan kepuasan kerja dan pengaruh komitmen organisasi terhadap hubungan antara gaya kepemimpinan dengan kinerja karyawan PT Yudhistira Galia Indonesia Area Yogyakarta. Sampel yang diperoleh sebanyak 101 responden. Sesuai dengan tujuan di atas maka dalam penelitian ini dirumuskan lima hipotesis Hipotesis pertama, gaya kepemimpinan berpengaruh secara positif dan signifikan komitmen organisasi. Hipotesis kedua, komitmen organisasi berpengaruh secara positif dan signifikan kepuasan kerja karyawan. Hipotesis ketiga, gaya kepemimpinan berpengaruh secara positif dan signifikan kepuasan kerja karyawan. Hipotesis keempat, komitmen organisasi berpengaruh secara positif dan signifikan kinerja karyawan. Hipotesis kelima, gaya kepemimpinan berpengaruh secara positif dan signifikan kinerja karyawan. Untuk memudahkan pemecahan masalah, penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan metode analisis regresi linear dan analisis jalur dan Sobel Test dengan bantuan SPSS 15.0. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: gaya kepemimpinan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kepuasan kerja dan kinerja karyawan; komitmen organisasi berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kepuasan kerja dan kinerja karyawan; komitmen organisasi secara positif dan signifikan memediasi hubungan antara gaya kepemimpinan terhadap kepuasan kerja karyawan; dan komitmen organisasi secara positif dan signifikan juga memediasi hubungan antara gaya kepemimpinan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Saran-saran untuk penelitian selanjutnya, sebaiknya menambah sampel dan memperluas cakupan penelitian, mepertimbangkan variabelvariabel lain yang masih erat kaitannya dengan variabel-variabel dalam penelitian ini.

ANALISIS PENGARUH FAKTOR PENGETAHUAN, MOTIVASI, DAN PERSEPSI PERAWAT TENTANG SUPERVISI KEPALA RUANG TERHADAP PELAKSANAAN DOKUMENTASI ASUHAN KEPERAWATAN DI RUANG RAWAT INAP RSUD KELET PROVINSI JAWA TENGAH DI JEPARA Abstract Kelet Public Hospital belongs to the local government of Central Java Province is relatively new in servicing general patient. The average of the nursing care documentation implementation stil low (58,9%) far from the expectation (80%). The aim of this research is in order to analyse the influence of the nurse knowledge, the nurse motivation, and the nurse perception about the supervision of inpatient room chief factors to the nursing care documentation implementation at Kelet Public Hospital, Jepara, Central Java. The research method that applied is the cross sectional study, using observational research with quantitative approach. Samples are whole population that meet the criteria, the dependent variables i.e. the nurse knowledge about the nursing care documentation, the nurse motivation, and the nurse perception about the supervision of inpatient room chief factors are measured by quest form, and as independent variabel, the nursing care documentation implementation from the medical record is appraised, than analysed. The result shows good knowledge factor 51,6%, not good 48,4%, good motivation factor 54,8%, not good 45,2%, good perseption about supervision factor 51,6%, not good 48,4%, good nursing care implementation documentation 58,1%, not good 41,9%. There are correlation of nurse knowledge factor to the nursing care documentation implementation (p value = 0,007), correlation of nurse motivation factor to the nursing care documentation implementation (p value = 0,0001), correlation of nurse perception about supervision of inpatient room chief factor to the nursing care documentation implementation (p value = 0,007). Both nurse knowledge factor (p value = 0,044, Exp (B) = 6,280) and nurse perception about supervision factor (p value = 0,044, Exp (B) = 6,280) influencing together to the nursing care documentation implementation Suggestion: in order to increase the nursing care documentation implementation, need to increase both nurse knowledge about the nursing care documentation and inpatient room chief supervision capability simultaneously.
