Internship candidates are required to attach the following: A letter of motivation (not exceeding 3000 words) demonstrating the candidates interest in the areas of human rights and democracy, indicating ways in which the candidate hopes to use the knowledge acquired during the internship, highlighting challenges faced in his/her country or region, and also pointing out to any experience, research and other relevant work previously undertaken; A detailed curriculum vitae highlighting relevant studies and work (if any) carried out in the past; Copies of relevant university degree or diplomas; Two letters of recommendation, one from an academic institution and the other from an individual of relevant professional standing, attesting to the interest, ability and commitment of the candidate to the ideals of human rights and democracy; A copy of a national identification document (ID, passport, etc). These documents must be sent to this address: ohchrsantiago@ohchr.org Once the application packages have been received by the Regional Offices recruitment team, a shortlist of potential candidates is prepared. Candidates in this shortlist are interviewed by telephone. Successful candidates are then formally notified of their selection. As the Regional Office is not in a position to respond individually to all applicants, candidates who have not heard from the Office within 3 months of their application should consider that their application has not been successful and may apply again.
