Intercessory Prayers

As we approach Gods throne, let us thank God for Gods goodness and providence. Let us offer prayers for our country, for our leaders, for our schools and other places of learning, for our homes and families and for ourselves. Lord, you give the great commission: "Heal the sick and preach the word." Lest the church neglect its mission and the gospel go unheard, help us witness to your purpose with renewed integrity: With the Spirit's gifts empower us for the work of ministry. Heavenly father, we thank you that you have promised to hear our prayers through Jesus Christ our Lord. We pray for our country, Jamaica, the Caribbean region and all the nations of the world. We pray that you may stretch forth your hand to heal our nation that justice, peace and unity may prevail. We pray for our leaders that you may give them vision and strength that they may lead us according to your plan. Lord, in your mercy Hear our prayer. We pray for your body, the church. May it be rid of all divisions and strife. May we, its members, come to realize that you have called us and prepared us to work for you in the world and may your church remain steadfast amidst all the challenges which it continues to face. Grant strength and patience to all who lead your church. Lord, in your mercy Hear our prayer. As we begin the new school year, we ask your blessing upon all schools, colleges, universities and other places of learning. We pray for all teachers and students. We pray especially for students who will be attending new schools or going into new classes, that they may not be afraid. May all our teaching and learning contribute to the advancement of your kingdom in this world. Lord, in your mercy Hear our prayer. We ask you to grant peace and comfort to all who are unemployed, sick, homebound, homeless or distressed in any way. Be with them that they not become hopeless. Remember also all those persons who assist them or bring them relief in your name, that they too may remain hopeful. Lord, in your mercy

Hear our prayer. We pray for our homes and families that your love may always bind us together and connect us to you. May children and adults live together in harmony and may children be protected from all the evils that so easily overtake them. Lord, in your mercy Hear our prayer. We pray for the departed, that your eternal light may shine on them and that they may enjoy true fellowship with all your saints who are always praising you. Lord, in your mercy Hear our prayer. Finally, we pray for ourselves, that you may continue to dwell with us and inspire us that we may continue to work in the spreading your gospel to the entire world. Lord, in your mercy Hear our prayer.

Redeeming Sustainer, visit your people and pour out your strength and courage upon us, that we may hurry to make you welcome not only in our concern for others, but by serving them generously and faithfully in your name. Amen.
