Mclachlan

A Major controversial issue is whether or not should the same sexes should get married. My claim is that LGBT marriages is this generation's own equal rights movement, compared to historical movements like womens rights and civil rights. As many campaigns are made to go for and be against the marriage. Members of the community shouldnt be discriminated or bullied for who they choose to kiss. Many factors influences the decisions are personal and religious beliefs. Many members of the LGBT community get discriminated and bullied because of who they chose to love. Its common to see the posts that say thats so gay without people realizing that theyre offending people. In 2010 many gay teens got bullied up to their snapping point. Its becoming an issue more and more every day. This generation is seeing a big outcome for the members, we are seeing 18 states passing the marriages, we will most likely see more in the future. Many campaigns what created to help out this issue, a bigger one is the It Gets Better campaign. The campaign tries to create resources and better outcomes for many LGBT teen whose get bullied. The campaign was created by a YouTube video. The video was created by Dan

Mclachlan 2 Savage, who is partner with Terry Miller, to talk about how they found each other. Since they made the video many people did the same thing, it changed many lives. The video was in response of multiple suicides in 2010. The campaign even has man famous spokesmen like Lady Gaga, Barack Obama and Ellen Degeneres. A famous LGBT writer is May Swenson; she graduated from Utah State University. The writer, May Swenson, is famous for her imagery in her poems. Her imagery consists of her comparing nature to love. She moved to New York to work on her poetry, she was nominated for many awards and claimed to be one of the most outstanding writers of the 20th century. In this poem A smudge for the horizon that, on a clear day, shows the hard edge of hills and Buildings on the other coast. Anchored boats all head one way: north, Where the wind comes from. You can see the storm inflating out of the west. A dark Hole in gray cloud twirls, widens, while white rips multiply on the water far out. Wet tousled yellow leaves, thick on the slate terrace. The jays hoarse cry. Hes stumbling in the air, too soaked to fly. (Swenson, October) Many countries are passing LGBT marriages like England and Canada. These countries are influencing what the states of United States are going to do about the marriages. After the queen of England passed LGBT marriages, many states did the same. Almost 18 states have passed the marriages. The United States are close to seeing more in the future.

Here at home we are dealing with marriages issues. In Utah on December 21, 2013 the district judge passed a law that says the ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional. Many LGBT couples couldnt believe that its finally time for them to get married as they rushed to the Mclachlan 3 courthouse. However, many disagree with the new law. So much controversy over the marriages that they let the Supreme Court to deal whether or not it is unconstitutional. Personal and religious beliefs are affected whether or not the marriages can take place. Many religions consider gay marriage a sin, many will argue that its not just a sin but not a proper way to feel. Some people believe it will also have to do with our economy because they can get a tax break if they are married. Some say if the couple is both have the same sex parents its missing out the influences that a woman or man in parenting. Other people can believe it really isnt marriage and that marriage is between one woman and one man. So supporting my claim it is this generations equal rights movement. Whether or not we fight against or for it we can agree that its going to make a change in our society. As a nation we are still determining if it is constitutional or not; although, we shouldnt discriminate against another human for whom they choose to kiss even if it is legal or not.
