MODULE NAME: PARTNERSHIP

Answers / Home Work

1. Answer: B
I and II give, profit after 3 years = Rs.3/8 x 22000 = Rs. 8250.
From III also, profit after 3 years = Rs. (2750 x 3) = Rs. 8250.
P's share = Rs.8250 x 5/11 = Rs. 3750.
Thus, (either III is redundant [or] I and II are redundant).
Partnership
Partnership is an association of two or more parties, they put money for business.
Division of Profit and Loss:
Rule : When investment of all partners are for the same time, the loss or profit is distributed among partners in
the ratio of investment.
Ex. Let P and Q invested Rs. a and b for one year in a business then share of profit and loss be,
P's share of profit : Q's share profit = a : b
Rule : When investments are for different time period, then profit ratio is calculated as capital multiplied by
length of investment
Ex. P's share of profit : Q's share profit = a* t1 : b* t2

2.Answer:D
From I, II and III, we get P : Q : R = (120000 x 8) : (80000 x 12) : (x x 9).
Since R's investment is not given, the above ratio cannot be give.
Given data is inadequate.

3.Answer: D
I and II give:
K = Rs. (8000 x 9) for 1 month = Rs. 72000 for 1 month.
N = Rs.

1/4x 8000 x 12 for 1 month = Rs. 24000 for 1 month.

R = Rs. 48000 for 1 month.

K : N : R = 72000 : 24000 : 48000 = 3 : 1 : 2.
III gives, total profit = Rs. 1000.

R's share = Rs. 1000 x

2/6 = Rs. 333 1/3

4.Answer :
As investment period is same so, profit should be divided in ratio of capitals as, 10 : 12 : 15, also 10 + 12 + 15 =
37
As share = 10/37 * 1295 = Rs. 350
Bs share = 12/37 * 1295 = Rs. 420
Cs share = 15/37 * 1295 = Rs. 525

5.Answer:
Ratio of profits will be 10*6 : 12*8 : 14*10 = 60 : 96 : 140 = 15 : 24 : 35
As share = 15/74 * 666 = Rs.135
Bs share = 24/74 * 666 = Rs.216
Cs share = 35/74 * 666 = Rs.315

6.Answer:
R's share : S's share : M's share =
* : 1/3*1/2 : {1-(1/4+1/2)}= 1/16 : 1/6 : 5/12
Now LCM of 16, 6, 12 is 48, so multiplying the equation by 48 we get ratio as 3 : 8 : 20 , also 3 + 8 + 20 = 31
Rs share = 3/31 * 806 = 3 * 26 = Rs. 87
Ss share = 8/31 * 806 = 8 * 26 = Rs. 206
Ms share =20/31 * 806 = 20 * 26 +Rs. 520

7.Answer:
Ratio of investments =1/2 : 1/3 : 1/4 , now LCM of 2, 3, 4 is 12 on multiplying the ratio with 12 we get 6 : 4 : 3
, also we assume their initial investment be 6x, 2x and 3x so, we can write: A:B:C
= (6x * 2 + 3x * 10) : (4x * 12) : (3x * 12) = 42 : 48 : 36 = 7 : 8 : 6
Bs share = 8/21 * 378 = Rs. 144.
Answer: Let total profit is x Bs share = 2x/3,As share = ( x 2x/3) = x/3.
Ratio of profit A : B = x/3 : 2x/3 = 1:2

Let total capital invested be Rs P and A's money was used for 15 months while B's money was used for b
months then we can write the equation as(1/4p * 15)/(3/4p * b) = < b = 30/3 =10
So, B's money was used for 10 months

8Answer:
Let B joined for P months
then we can write equation as - ( 85,000 * 12 ) : ( 42,500 * P ) = 3 : 1
(85000 * 12)/(42500 * p) = 3/1 p = 8months

9.Answer:
A:B=3:2,A:C=2:1
B:A=2:3,B:A=4:6
Now, A : C = 2 : 1, A : C = 6 : 3 , So B : A : C = 4 : 6 : 3
We can write as A : B : C = 6 : 4 : 3
Bs share = 56914 * 4/13 = Rs. 17512

10.Answer:
required Sum = 6000 x 100/(100-20)x 100/(100-25)
=6000 x 100 x 1000/(80 x 75)
= 10,000

11.Answer:
The required population = 9900( 100/(100-10))x(100/(100+10))
= 9900x100x100/(90x110)
= 10,000

12.Answer:
Amount of salt in 50 kg of solution = 4/100 * 50 = 2kg
Let, x kg of pure salt be added to increase it to 10 % of solution, by rule of alligation,
( 2 + x )/ ( 30 + x ) = 10/100 x = 10/3 kg of salt.

13.Answer : Let the total number of votes polled be x.

Also votes gained by other candidates= ( 100 - 84 ) % of x = 16 % of x
Now, we can write as 84 % of x - 16 % of x = 476
so, x = 700

14.Answer:
Bs income is less than As income by [(r/(100+r))x100]
[ 15/(100+15) ]x 100%
23 1/3%
Answer Tax = T = -15%
Consumption = c = +20%
Effect on revenue = 20 15 + (-15 * 20 )/100
=2% increase in revenue.
Answer: Effect on Revenue ( % increase ) : 6.75% increase
Answer: % error = 10 - 5 - (10 * 5 / 100 ) = 5 - 1/ 2 = 9/ 2 % in excess
Answer: here x = 25 , p = 30 % , y = 30 , q = 55 %
M= 100( 25 + 30 )/55-30
M = 220 maximum marks
Answer : 100 - ( 35 + 25 + 10 ) = 50 %
Answer : Let boys playing hockey be denoted by A and boys playing football be denoted by B then their
number be n(A) and n(B)
n(A)= 75/100 * 600 = 450
n(B)= 45/100 * 600 = 270
n( A U B) =600
n( A intersection B) =n(A) + n(B) - n( A U B) = 120
so, 120 students plays both games

15.Answer: A
Initial investments of A,B,c be Rs 3x, Rs 2x, Rs 4x then for 3 years
(3x*36):[(2x*12)+(2x+270000)*24]:[(4x*24)+(4x+270000)*12]=3:4:5
108x:(72x+640,000):(144x+3240000)=3:4:5 108x:72x+6480000:144x+3240000=3:4:5
(108x)/(72x+6480000)=3/4 432x=216x+19440000 216x=19440000 x=Rs 90000 A's initial

investment=3x=3*90,000=Rs 2,70,000 B's initial investment=2x=2*90,000=Rs 1,80,000 C's initial

investment=4x=4*90,000=Rs 3,60,000

16.AnswerB.
let C's capital =Rs x B's capital=Rs (2/3)*x A's capital =3*(2/3)*x=Rs 2x ratio of their capitals=2x:(2/3)*x:x
=6x:2x;3x B's share =Rs 6600(2/11)=Rs 1200
