Emulsion Type Protective Coating for Concrete
Product Description
Uses Sikagard -670W is a rigid acrylic based, water dispersed protective coating. For protection and embellishment of facades and fair-faced concrete without obscuring the characteristic surface texture of the concrete especially on SikaTop sealing mortars. Sikagard -670W has the following properties: Good water vapour permeability. High diffusion-resistance to C02, good carbonation-barrier. Excellent resistance to weathering and ageing. Excellent resistance against chalking. Greatly reduced water absorption. Easy to apply. Water thinnable. Excellent adhesion to many substrates (especially SikaTop and Sika MonoTop products). EMPA: Federal Material Testing Laboratory (Dbendorf, Switzland): Certificate for use in Tunnelling. LPM : Laboratory for Preparation and Methology (Beinwil am See, Switzland): Certificate for use as system. University of Dortmund (FRG): Diffusion of carbondioxyde and water vapour. Green 31 (approx. RAL 7032), pebble 85 (light grey), travertin 01 (white). Other colours are available on request with minimum quantities per order. 13 kg pails. Minimum application and substrate temperature: +8C. Maximum application and substrate temperature: +35C At rising temperatures do not apply to concrete substrates without pore sealer. Maximum humidity: 80%, observe dew-point and frost. 2 Normal 2-3 coats at approx. 0.15 kg/m are being applied. Intensive colours require 3 -4 coats. The substrate must be free of loose and friable particles, dust and dirt. Remnants of release agents - especially oil - and wax - based must be removed. Dense and / or very smooth substrates, strongly absorbent or porous as well as 2 substrates with adhesive tensile strength of < 1.0 N/mm are critical, and must be primed either with Sikagard -680S transparent. SikaTop or SikaMonoTop mortars can be overcoated after 5 - 8 days.

Mixing Application

Waiting time

Sikagard -670W is supplied ready to use. However, before applying the material must be thoroughly stirred mechanically. At very low or high temperatures, the coats may be diluted with up to 2% water. On strongly absorbent substrates, the first coat must be thinned with 5 - 10% water. On difficult / porous substrates a priming with Sikagard -551S Primer might be necessary. Sikagard -670W can be applied by brush or roller (preferably with a short piled lamb skin roller) or airless spray: Equipment with a pressure of 180 bar, nozzle with opening diameter of 0.38 - 0.66 mm and a spraying angle of 50 - 60. Between Sikagard -700S and following coats min 5 hrs. max 1 week. Between Sikagard -551 S or Sikagard -680S transparent and Sikagard -670W min 8 hrs. Temp. Between coats 8C ~90 min 23C ~30 min 30C ~20 min Clean the equipment with water. Rain resistant ~ 5 hrs. ~ 1 hrs. ~ 40 min. Final drying 24 hrs. 4 hrs. 3 hrs.
