E-JETS NEWS is a publication that presents EMBRAER 170/190 aircraft technical items. This newsletter, compiled by EMBRAER Fleet Technical Center (EFTC), brings the latest developments and shares in-service knowledge and maintenance best practices. It also provides troubleshooting tips to optimize aircraft utilization and efficiency in daily operation. E-JETS NEWS addresses Operators concerns with maintenance support and dispatchability of EMBRAER 170/190 aircraft. It has relevant information to be shared with the technical departments, such as Engineering and Maintenance. Recipients are encouraged to distribute this newsletter to EMBRAER Customers. Earlier editions of E-JETS NEWS publication can be found at CIS / Aerochain at http://www.aerochain.com - Login (enter username and password); - Select Technical Services and then EMBRAER Customer Services; - Select Maintenance Support; - Select E-JETS NEWS; - Click on desired E-JETS NEWS. If any additional information regarding the in-service items covered in the E-JETS NEWS is needed, please contact the local EMBRAER Field Service Representative. In most cases, as previously informed, the N2 pump sensor replacement was the final action. Therefore, based on events and removals, GE and EMBRAER have started an investigation on this sensor. Also, the removed sensors were sent to the manufacturer and, after tests, no faults were identified in the components. Therefore, in order to reproduce the fault, a suspected sensor was installed in an engine at GE for running test and also in a specific bench test (with a variable gap) in order to measure the gap of the sensor. However, the reproduced. fault could not be
In case operators have occurrences of ENGINE SHORT DISPATCH on the EICAS with the correlated N2 FUEL PUMP OUT OF RANGE CMC message (fault code 73216417), EMBRAERs recommendation is to troubleshoot according to FIM TASK 73-21-00-810904-A and the correlated GE CF34-8E Subtask 72-00-00-810-109. Also, a procedure for cleaning the connectors that interface with the N2 sensor was included in GE CF34-8E Subtask 72-00-00-810-109 and can be used for fault confirmation.

The new electromechanical latch had the optical sensor replaced by microswitches and other improvements have been added to the new assembly: - Solenoid attachment improvement and addition of a shock absorber; - Bolt curvature redesign; - Internal spring redesign; - Detent lever modification; - Manual override improvement; - Reduced internal mechanism friction and solenoid power consumption; - The bolt stop pin was increased to improve the lock operation; - Reduced weight; Please refer to PIL 170-52-0023 and 19052-0008 for detailed information.
Therefore, sufficient reason exists to request compliance with those ADs within the next 600 flight hours after the rd effective date of the ADs (March 3 , 2008). The action required is to perform a visual inspection on the escape slide packs of the forward and aft doors. If tiedown straps are found, they must be cut and discarded. Please refer to Service Bulletins 170-250088 and 190-25-0062 for detailed inspection and procedures.

When the Fill/Drain switch is either in the FILL or DRAIN position, the Fill/Drain valve is actuated. In this condition, it is not possible to pressurize the water tank, as the pressure from the bleed air flows through the overflow tube and escapes through the aft drain mast (E170/175/190) or through the forward drain port (E-195).

EMBRAER emphasizes the need to adhere to the procedure - AMM II 12-1401 Potable Water Tank Servicing - by exercising care to set the switch to the NORMAL position at the end of the servicing before closing the service door; otherwise, this can damage the door. If the door is damaged, the closing with the switch in the wrong position becomes easier, leading to the event of lack of water in flight.

pumps on due to lower values of N2 than current thresholds. The new SPDA Block 11.1 incorporates a change in these thresholds preventing the fuel AC pumps from being turned on unnecessarily, mainly during taxiing. With this modification, EMBRAER expects that the Fuel Feed Fault events will be considerably reduced in the whole E-Jet fleet. So, EMBRAER recommends that operators incorporate this upgrade. SPDA Block 11.1 can be implemented by following the instructions of SB170-240043 or SB190-24-0014 depending on the aircraft type, both released by the end of December 2007, as informed during the EOC 2007 events.

Aircraft must be equipped with the PRIMUS EPIC Field-Loadable Software System (LOAD 19.3), or a higher version, and must be accomplished with new BCM PN 142-091141 or (E170) PN 142071142 that requires harness modification. ABM and BCM interchangeability for the E170 and E190 are as following: - For the E170 and E190 fleets, the Old ABM PN 142-07117 is not interchangeable with new PN 142071171; - For the E170, fleet the old BCM PN 142-071141 is not interchangeable with new PN 142-071142; - For the E190, fleet the old BCM PN 142-09114 is not interchangeable with new PN 142-091141 For the EMBRAER 190 fleet, the PIL (Part Information Letter) N. 190-32-0032 was issued for ABM and PIL N. 190-320031 to BCM. The new ABM and BCM implementations in the field will be accomplished by service a bulletin which is under the final approval process.

Events during operation showed the possibility of leakage of waste during the drainage of waste tank, due to damage on the step sleeve located between the waste tank drain line and the service panel. Therefore, it is recommended the installation of the improved step sleeve and new T-bolt clamps, according to the SB.

recommended that the respective PS be replaced: - If the CMC points out to the BCM1 replace PS 1, Mau1 - If the CMC points out to the BCM2 replace PS 2, Mau2 Instead of PS replacement, it would be even better for investigation purposes, if the operator could swap the Power Supplies (PS 1, MAU 1 with PS 2, MAU 2) and monitor the aircraft, verifying if the behavior migrates to the opposite BCM. A SNL will be issued soon covering this issue.
