Inspiredbythebeautyofhishomestateandhisloveofcreatingmusic,CrookCountysdiversemixtureof rockandhiphopiseclecticenoughtoleavefansofallgenressalivatingformore.Poweredbythe machinegunattackofhismotormouthandirresistiblehooks,thealbumcandazzlefansofSouthernRap (YingYangTwins,LilJon),battlemainstreamheavyweights(Twista,LupeFiasco),orstandstoetotoewith undergroundlegends(Tech9ne,KottonmouthKings,orInsaneClownPosse). Sincetheageof15,TheDirtball(akaDavidAlexander)hasdedicatedhimselftohismusic.Growingupin Oregon,Alexanderquicklybecamepreoccupiedwithdrumsandwouldbetherhythmicbackbonefora numberofdifferentbandsintheNorthWest.In1995,Dirtballdecidedtotakehismusicalaspirationstothe nextlevelandformedfunkrockhybridCholaandwouldtourtheregioncultivatingagrassrootsfollowing. AftersixyearsofconstanttouringandrecordingwithChola,thebandwasonthebrinkofanational breakthrough,butpersonalandcreativedifferencesleadtothebandsdemise. Cholaopenedthedoorandkindofschooledmeintheartofrhyme,whichhelpedmedevelopmystyle. Then,whenthebandfinallydisbanded,IknewrightawayIdidntwanttohidebehindthedrumkitanymore, soIjuststartedfocusingondevelopingmyskillsasarapper,Dirtballsaysoftheswitchfrombangingdrum kitstospittingonthemic.IgrewuplisteningtorapandthatswhatIloved.Ineversetouttobeafast rapper,itsjustthiskindofunharnessedthingthatIdeveloped. Afterhalfadecadebehindthekit,Dirtballdecideditwastimeforachangeandfocusedhiseffortson perfectingtheartofrhyme.Hiseffortsprovedfruitfulwhenhedevelopedaknackforcreatingamachinegun rapidfireflowthatquicklybecamehistrademarkstyle.Withaconsciousefforttocreatesupertightflawless lyrics,AlexanderbeganhissolopathasanMCandTheDirtballwasborn. Afterrecordingademo,TheDirtballsrapidfirerhymescaughttheattentionofCaliforniabasedSuburban NoizeRecordswhosignedhimforthereleaseofhisdebut,PopADBall.Thealbumquicklyjumpstartedhis careerandpropelledhimintotwoyearsofnonstoptouring.Hissophomoreeffort,Raptillion,wasreleasedin 2006andbecameaninstantundergroundclassicthatpromptedPopMatterstosayDirtballsRapidfire rhymesandanearforcatchychorusesdistinguishtherappersstyle,whichattimessoundssomethinglikea sharperedgedBigBoi.
