Dear Prospective Undergraduate Research Conference Presenters, As a long-standing tradition of UBCs Psychology undergraduate community, Psychology Students Association of UBC and the UBC Psychology Department is proud to announce the 16th Annual UBC Psychology Undergraduate Research Conference to be held on Friday, March 28th, and Saturday, March 29th, 2014 at UBC's Earth Sciences Building (ESB). Our mission is to provide a professional environment for undergraduate researchers to showcase their work, gain experience in presenting at conferences, and contribute to the scientific community. We strongly encourage all undergraduate researchers who have spearheaded any form of psychology research during the 2013-2014 academic year to apply to present at this conference, as it not only is an invaluable opportunity for the presenter, but the contribution of presenters is also crucial in making this event a truly enriching experience. We are also thrilled to announce that our keynote speaker this year will be Dr. Jiaying Zhao, a professor of our very own Department of Psychology at the University of British Columbia, who has done extensive work on resource scarcity and its cognitive impacts. Deadline for applications and fees*: - February 7th: All applications and fees must be received by this date. Deadline for presentation abstracts: - March 7th: No changed/revised version will be accepted after this date. Deadline for poster submissions: - March 28th: If you have been confirmed to give a poster presentation, you MUST bring your poster to ESB concourse before 3:45 PM. We will send you a map corresponding to your specific poster location on a later date. All the necessary supplies (e.g., tape) will be provided. Deadline for PowerPoint presentation submissions: - March 28th: If you have been confirmed to give an oral presentation, you MUST email us your presentation to conference.psa@gmail.com by 12:00 PM. *Notes on application submission and payment: 1. Please submit your completed application form via email to conference.psa@gmail.com. 2. Please bring the fee and a copy of your completed application form to the PSA Office (Kenny Room 2007) during any of our office hours. Times can be found on our website (http://psa.psych.ubc.ca/contact/). You can also put the fee along with your completed form in an envelope and slide it under the PSA Office door at any time. However, applications that do not include the fee will be automatically rejected, and it is your responsibility to make sure that the fee is securely attached with the application form. 3. Registration Fee: a. PSA members: $10 b. Non-PSA members: $20 (presenters may join PSA at any time prior to the application deadline to enjoy the discounted registration fee) 4. Cash is the only accepted form of payment.
