Descripon
The UValue tool Equivalent UValue allows you to calculate and display equivalent Uvalues. The equivalent Uvalue takes periodic thermal bridge occurrences into account (e.g. the joist in gure 2).
Accurate Results
To receive accurate results, the following condions must be fullled:

http://www.flixo.com/manual/flixo7/it/tools_ueqvalue.htm
equivalent Uvalues should only be calculated for construcons where thermal bridges appear periodically (cf. gure 2). the cross secon line should be dened within secons, through which no heat ux ows (e.g. symmetrical axes or on edges where there the boundary condion: heat ux density q=0.0 W/m2K is set). If you choose an exterior reference system, start and end points should lie on the exterior boundary of the construcon. If you choose an interior reference system, start and end points should lie on the interior boundary of the construcon. Make note of the order of the inputs: also here endpoint inputs are entered counterclockwise. Also consider the Comments secon in the chapter Physical Explanaon . If you would like to interrupt the input before dening the 3rd point, you can use context menu command (right click) Cancel or you can hit the ESC key. With the Select, Move, Scale tool, you can change the posion of the label as well as the posion of the secon. The type of label (e.g. number of postdecimal place holders, whether the heat ux should be calculated through the secon surface) as well as the graphical properes of the cross secon line can be adjusted with the corresponding styles in the Styles yout.

The equivalent Uvalue (previously equivalent Kvalue) is calculated as follows:

and calculated as follows if the heat ux through the secon should be taken into account (cf. gure 4, Properes yout)
where: Ueq: equivalent Uvalue [W/m2K] AB: heat ux from A to B (counterclockwise) [W/m] CA: heat ux from C to A (counterclockwise) [W/m] BD: heat ux from B to D (counterclockwise) [W/m] b: b: length of the projecon of the distance line AB on the perpendicular to the secon line AC [m] T: temperature dierence TATC of the boundary condion temperatures TA und TC by the points A and C [K] Comments In general, the equivalent Uvalues are dependent on the side of a construcon (interior or exterior) for which the value is being calculated. The following relaons are valid: Ueq AB, exterior= Ueq AB (CA,BD), interior and Ueq AB, interior = Ueq AB (CA,BD), exterior
In case the heat ux through the secon surface exceeds a crical, relavely high value, then an appropriate warning will be shown. You can adjust these borders in the Properes yout (cf. gure 4) The heat uxes will be calculated counterclockwise from start to endpoint. To calculate the heat ux, all reference points will automacally be shown at the nearest mesh point on the surface. The sign of the heat ux is taken into account: heat uxes into the system are posive; heat uxes out of the system are negave.

Limitaons
This tool can only be used on the report page and only if result objects of a previously calculated model are present. The temperature dierences must have the same values for both secons. Only 2 boundary condion temperatures can be present in the model. Neither interior edges nor heat sources can be present.
