I feel that the text used on the heading of the page really suits the images used on the

page as they are alternative style and a combination of different things, however this works really well. The text is bold, black, capital letters, centrally aligned and large. This emphasises the importance of the text when compared to the rest on the page as this is the main piece of information which tells the reader what the page is about.

The contents page is named a different name than what would be the norm. This in itself sets the magazine apart from main strain styles and creates a sense of indie-rock by the font used on the heading.

Text is kept consistent through the colour (black) however the fonts, sizes, option of bold etc. s varied throughout this page to develop the idea of alternative features, differences, no norm considered and to also represent diversity of the magazine in general. If the colour of the text was widely varied, this could seem overpowering and may not appeal to a reader.

I like the disorganised layout as it works for this style of magazine which is indie and diverse. There is no set structure for this contents page and this suggests that there is no set style for the magazine, again implying diversity and difference. NME has chosen to challenges the stereotype contents page which follows a basic layout.

The colour scheme used consists on monotone colours to emphasis images and make them appear more dramatic on the page to stand out to the reader and grab their attention. The light background allows the reader to easily

read the text and to not take any attention

away from the text or images on the page. Grey tones used on the page create an urban, rough finished feel, especially as they grey shades differ; this reinforces the idea that the magazine features variety and nothing is basic or the same-diversity. Chunky, bulky, large, black page numbers for magazine content allow the reader to understand where certain stories/information will be inside the magazine clearly as this is easily readable and emphasised more than other text to imply it is more significant.

The colour of the images have no consistency which makes them stand out further. There is lots to look at on this page but the consistency shape of the images makes the page have some structure. However the squares differ in size to give the reader points of focus on the page. Effects/editing of the images make them appear unusual and intriguing for the reader a s a result due to b=not being the average magazine images.

The ripped corner effect exaggerates the urban feel to the magazine-edgy.
