Although this photo is gruesome, its extremely important to the understanding of the topic of racism. Whites felt so strongly and hostile they killed blacks. It shows the polar difference in attitudes between the two groups of people: colored and white. I chose this photo specifically to catch my readers attention. Bufford, John H. Jim Crow Jubilee. 1st ed. 1. Boston: Geo. P. Reed, 1847. Print. <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Jim_Crow_Jubilee_(Boston_Public_Library) .jpg>. This is an important source because it references a pertinent historical event: the Jim Crow Laws. I chose to include this specific source as a photo because it

shows how lightheartedly the very serious topic of racial segregation was taken. It was made and published by and for whites, imitating black spiritual songs. It developed into a Mockery-type genre. It is important in the understanding of my project because it again highlights the overall white supremist attitude. Calvert, Robert A., and Arnoldo De Len. "CIVIL RIGHTS ." This source provides brief information of the persistent issue of Civil Rights throughout history, including events over a broad time frame but still maintaining a relevancy to my topic of the Hernandez v. Driscoll CISD case. It is important to my project because it provides thorough examples of Civil Rights significance and relevance to the development of the United States. It helps me better explain the urgency of my court case and improves my project. Calvert, Robert A., Walter Prescott Webb, and Art Martinez de Vara. discrimination via marching and peaceful protest that was usually met with a violent response. It is important to my project because it is another visual representation that can help readers better understand the topic. It is also important because it shows blacks standing up for their rights when they were thought to have none at all as opposed to white abolitionists and delegates representing them. It shows the progression into a more accepting nation. Ganzel, Bill, and Claudia Reinhardt. "Civil Rights For Minorities." Weasels Living History Farm: Farming in the 1940s. Ganzel Group. 1st Ed.
