TRAVEL ADVISORY AND IMPORTANT REMINDERS


The venue of the 37th General Assembly of Student Councils will be at the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Audio Visual Room, University of the Philippines Mindanao, Mintal, Davao City. Delegates will be billeted at the Green Windows Dormitel, FTC Towers, Mt. Apo Street, Davao City. Traveling from the Davao International Airport to Green Windows Dormitel Public Transport Via Taxi Upon exiting the Davao International Airport, taxis are readily available. Ask the driver to take you to UP Mindanao via Diversion Road (C.P. Garcia National Highway). The flag down rate in Davao City is Php 40.00 and a succeeding charge of Php 3.50 per 250 meters and taxis only allow a maximum of 4 passengers per taxi. The taxi meters issue receipts. (Fare estimate: Php 200-300) Via Jeepney 1. To ride a jeepney from the Davao International Airport, exit the compound by taking the exit on the left side. Take the underpass to cross the street. Ride any jeepney that will go southbound to take you to Buhangin. Ask the driver to drop you off at Milan or near Orange Grove Hotel. The minimum regular jeepney fare in Davao City is Php 8 and the student fare is Php 7 (Fare estimate: Php 10) 2. Ride Buhangin jeepneys which will take you to Quirino Avenue or Bankerohan. Tell the driver to drop you off at the Merco Bakeshop near Davao Doctors Hospital (Fare estimate: Php 10-13). From Davao Doc, walk until you reach FTC Towers (see attached photo). Private Transport Upon exiting the compound of the Davao International Airport, turn left and take the Diversion Road (C.P. Garcia National Highway). Follow the Diversion road and turn left on Angliongto Road until you reach J.P. Laurel Avenue (Landmark: Damosa Gateway). Turn right. Upon reaching the intersection of Sta. Ana Avenue and J.P. Laurel, turn right to E. Quirino Avenue (Landmark: Gaisano Mall of Davao). Turn right when you reach the Merco Bakeshop near Davao Doctors Hospital. Go straight until you reach FTC Towers.

Traveling from the Davao International Airport to the UP Mindanao Campus Public Transport Via Taxi 1. Upon exiting the Davao International Airport, taxis are readily available. Ask the driver to take you to UP Mindanao via Diversion Road (C.P. Garcia National Highway). a. Via Mintal Jeep Tell the driver to drop you at Bangko Sentral. Mintal bound jeepneys will pass through Bangko Sentral. Jeepneys going to Mintal will be available 24/7 (Fare: Php 20)

b. Via L300 Van Tell the driver to drop you near the L300 Terminal (Landmark: Phoenix Gas Station). Pay at the terminal counter and ride an L300 van to Mintal (Fare: Php 23). L300 vans are only available until 10:00 in the evening.

c. Via Annil Bus Tell the driver to drop you near the L300 Terminal (Landmark: Phoenix Gas Station). The Annil Bus parks near the Phoenix Gas Station on the left side. Bus trips are only until 7:00 in the evening (Fare: Php 16 student price).

3. You will know if you have reached Brgy. Mintal if you have passed by the Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus. Tell the driver/conductor to drop you by Holy Spirit or NAPOLCOM (Fare: Php 20) 4. To go to the UP Mindanao Campus: Cross the street and ride a tricycle (locally called sidecar or princess) to take you to the UP Mindanao Administration Building (Fare: Php 20 for solo; Php 10 for two or more). Tricycles are available 24/7. Private Transport 1. Upon exiting the compound of the Davao International Airport, turn left and take the Diversion Road (C.P. Garcia National Highway). You may opt to travel to Mintal via the Diversion Road route or the Downtown route. The former route takes a shorter time because of less traffic. a. Diversion Road route: Follow the road until to Ulas, Davao City. You will know if you have reached Ulas if you have passed by the Coca-Cola Plant. b. Downtown route: Follow the Diversion road and turn left on Angliongto Road until you reach J.P. Laurel Avenue (Landmark: Damosa Gateway). Turn right. Upon reaching the intersection of Sta. Ana Avenue and J.P. Laurel, turn right to E. Quirino Avenue (Landmark: Gaisano Mall of Davao). This will then take you to the McArthur Highway passing through Matina, Bangkal, and Ulas. 2. Upon reaching the intersection of the Ulas and Davao-Bukidnon National Highway (Landmark: intersection is a few meters away from the Petron Gas Station and San Miguel Corporation Sales Office) turn right and take the Davao-Bukidnon National Highway 3. To go to the UP Mindanao Campus: You will know if you have reached Brgy. Mintal if you have passed by the Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus. Turn left on the road on the corner of the Holy Spirit Hospital. There is a sign near Holy Spirit which shall direct you to UP Mindanao. This is where you will turn. (Note: You will know if you are near the hospital if you have already passed by the Merco bakeshop near

the Catholic Church). Upon turning, there will be two roads, the left one will take you to the compound of the Philippine Coconut Authority and the right one will take you to the UP Mindanao campus. Take the right road and follow the concrete road until you reach the campus.

Traveling from the UP Mindanao Campus to the Davao International Airport Public Transport Via Taxi 1. Taxis are available along the National Highway near the corner of Chow to Go (Landmark: Siopao Factory). The flag down rate in Davao City is Php 40.00 and a succeeding charge of Php 3.50 per 250 meters and taxis only allow a maximum of 4 passengers per taxi. The taxi meters issue receipts. Taxis are available 24/7 (Fare estimate: Php 400-600). Via Jeepney, L300 Van or Annil Bus 1. You can ride any jeepney, L300 van or Annil bus to go to Roxas Avenue. Tell the driver/conductor to drop you off at Ateneo de Davao University (locally known as ADDU) located at Roxas Avenue (Fare: Php 20 via jeep or L300; Php 16 via bus) 2. Go to the side of the road facing the City Triangle across Ateneo de Davao. Ride a Landmark 3 jeepney which shall pass along the Davao International Airport. You could also take any jeepney that will pass by Buhangin and Panacan (ie. Tibungco-Roxas jeepneys with signboards Buhangin-Panacan). (Fare estimate: Php 14-15). Traveling from the Green Windows Dormitel to the Davao International Airport Public Transport Via Taxi Taxis are available along E. Quirino Avenue. You could also take any jeepney that will pass by Buhangin and Panacan (ie. Tibungco-Roxas jeepneys with signboards Buhangin-Panacan). (Fare estimate: Php 14-15).

The smoking ban is strictly implemented in Davao City. Please smoke at designated areas only. 2. Our transportation to and from the dormitory is scheduled. Delegates are reminded to wake up early so that we will not have trouble with the transportation schedule and we can start with the program on time. 3. Please refrain from going outside the campus and/or the dormitory alone. Please ask the secretariat to accompany you.
