Further notice of an open oor hearing


Notice is hereby given that an additional open oor hearing will be held by the Examining Authority (appointed by the Secretary of State) for the examination of the application (the Application) by Thames Water Utilities Limited for a development consent order for the proposed Thames Tideway Tunnel (the Project). This hearing is in addition to the hearing dates as previously notied. The Application was made under section 37 of the Planning Act 2008 on 28 February 2013 and accepted for examination by the Secretary of State on 27 March 2013. The Application relates to the construction and operation of a wastewater storage and transfer tunnel in London which, together with shafts, connection tunnels and associated development, will enable the interception of ows from 34 existing combined sewer overows (CSOs) and the transfer of those ows for treatment in order to tackle untreated sewage overowing into the tidal River Thames. The Project comprises the following elements: a) wastewater storage and transfer tunnels between: (i)  Thames Waters existing operational sites at Acton Storm Tanks in Ealing and Abbey Mills  Pumping Station in Newham (the main tunnel). The main tunnel would run from Acton Storm Tanks to the River Thames and then underneath the river as far as Rotherhithe, where it would divert to the north east via the Limehouse Cut, terminating at Abbey Mills Pumping Station; (ii)  King Georges Park in Wandsworth and the proposed main tunnel site at Carnwath Road Riverside in Fulham (the Frogmore connection tunnel); (iii)  Thames Waters existing operational site at Greenwich Pumping Station and the proposed main tunnel site at Chambers Wharf in Southwark (the Greenwich connection tunnel); d)  works to modify Thames Waters existing Shad Thames Pumping Station at Maguire Street in Southwark, provision of a shaft and modications to the existing sewer at Bekesbourne Street in Tower Hamlets and works to drain the tunnels at Beckton Sewage Treatment Works; and e)  Associated development to facilitate construction, operation and maintenance of the tunnels and shafts described above. The additional open oor hearing will take place on Wednesday, 5 February 2014 at the Deptford Lounge, 9 Grifn Street, Deptford, London, SE8 4RJ. Registration will begin at 20:00, with the hearing commencing at 20:30. The hearing already arranged for Wednesday, 5 February 2014 and scheduled to start at 19:00 at the AHOY Centre, Borthwick Street, Deptford, London, SE8 3JY will still take place as advertised, and will close by 20:00 to accommodate the above notied additional hearing session at the Deptford Lounge venue. Submissions made at one hearing do not also need to be made at the other.

b)  shafts to be used for the construction, operation and maintenance of the main tunnel and the Frogmore and Greenwich connection tunnels; c)  CSO drop shafts, short connection tunnels and associated development for the interception of ows from existing CSOs and the diversion of those ows into the main tunnel or the connection tunnels;
