The information design tool is an S$% &usiness b!ects metadata design environment that enables a designer to e)tract* define* and manipulate metadata from relational and +$% sources to create and deplo" S$% &usiness b!ects universes.

Decide if the data foundation t"pe should be single6source or multisource6enabled. The t"pe and number of connections available* as ,ell as the S:+ s"nta) that is used to define S:+ structures depends on the data foundation t"pe Connections for multisource6enabled data foundations must be secured* relational connections* and are managed b" the data federation service. The procedure to create a universe varies slightl" for different t"pes of data sources

To retrieve a published universe* "ou must have a pro!ect in the +ocal %ro!ects 8ie, ,here the business la"er and referenced resources are to be saved. %& In the +ocal %ro!ects 8ie,* right6clic7 the pro!ect folder and select *etrie$e #ni$erse 0 from -ocal 'older.

Note: By default, the resources are retrieved into the local project and are secured locally by requiring you to enter your repository system authentication when opening a retrieved data foundation or business layer. To remove the local security requirement, select the Sa$e for all users option when selecting the universe in the repository. Follow the instructions on the wizard pages When the wizard finishes, the business layer and its dependent resources connections, connection shortcuts, and data foundation! are created in the local project and are ready to be edited.
