Human Resource Management System

Software Requirement Specification

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS SPECIFICATION

1. INTRODUCTION
SRS is a document that completely describes what the proposed software should do without describing how the software will do it. The basic purpose of SRS is to bridge the communication gap between the parties involved in the development of the software. SRS is a medium through which the client and the user needs are accurately specified. A good SRS should satisfy all the partiessomething very hard to achieve- and involves trade-offs and persuasion. Another important purpose of developing an SRS is helping the users understand their own needs. The main advantage of SRS is it establishes the basis of agreement between the client and the supplier on what the software product will do. It provides a reference for validation of the final product.

2. PURPOSE
The purpose of the project is to develop a HR management System which will use to keep track of the employees of Bank.

3. SCOPE
The proposed system will provide a user friendly graphical user interface for the users and this will help in reducing the time for preparing updates manually and give more time.

6.0 OVERALL DESCRIPTIONS

6.1 PRODUCT PERSPECTIVE The proposed HR management System will describe the exact working of Hr department in a company. This will display the details of employee based on the designation of the employees like permanent and temporary employee etc. The System will also have an ADMIN who has full-fledged rights with regards to managing resources across branchessuch as storing details of employee, giving salaries to employees, store the details of candidates applied for jobs etc. 6.2 ADMINISTRATIVE RIGHTS: Keep track of the attendance details of employee. Pay the monthly salary to employees View the requirement for the employees in the company Store the details of candidate details. Can change the password. 6.3 USER CHARATERISTICTCS The project will be developed and maintained by an average user with basic computer knowledge. So with the detailed training, any educated person will be able to use the system. 6.4 DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION CONSTRAINTS The Product is developed using VB.Net and The backend database for this SQL Server. The product is accomplished with login facility so that specific function is available to specific user.

6.5 USER DOCUMENTATION The product will include user manual. The user manual will include product overview, complete configuration of the used software (such as SQL server), technical details, backup procedure and contact information which will include email address. The product will be compatible with the Win XP or higher. The databases will be created in the Microsoft SQL server.

6.6 ASSUMPTIONS AND DEPENDENCIES We assume that staff does all the data entry based on the correct identity value whose values are previously known to them. The staff should be careful in deleting or modifying any transaction knowingly or unknowingly which will lead to inconsistency of the database.

7.0 SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

7.1 EXTERNAL INTERFACE REQUIREMENTS The interface should be simple and easy to understand and use. It should also be an interactive interface. The system should prompt for the user and administrator to login to the application and for proper input criteria.

7.2 USER INTERFACE The requirements are grouped according to the main features (as defined by the use cases) provided by the system. The requirements that follow a subheading support the activities associated with the feature named by the subheading. It basically provides an easily manageable interface without involving any hustle.

7.3 HARDWARE INTERFACE 7.3.1 Hardware requirements are: OS: Windows 2003 Web Edition CPU: Intel Pentium 4 - 3.0 GHz RAM: 2 GB

7.4 SOFTWARE INTERFACES Software Require ments Are: 7.4.1 Front-End: VB.NET The pages developed using vb.net are compiled, providing better performance than with scripting languages. It provides a programming model, and infrastructure to create scalable, secure and stable applications faster as well as more easily than with previous web technologies. It is more than the next version of Active Server Pages, it is a unifies web development platform that provide the services necessary for developers to build enterprise- class web applications It is a compiled, .NET based environment. Accessing database is made easier.

7.4.2 BACK-END: SQL Server Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database management system developed by Microsoft. It provides an environment used to generate databases that can be accessed from workstations, the web or other media such as a Personal Digital Assistance (PDA). SQL Server allows multiple clients to use the same database concurrently. As such, it needs to control concurrent access to shared data, to ensure data integrity - when multiple clients update the same data, or clients attempt to read data that is in the process of being changed by another client. The main mode of retrieving data from an SQL Server database is querying for it.

7.5 FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS 7.5.1 Employee Details: Introduction: Stores the details of Employees in database Input: Name, Address, Occupation, Date of join, Date of birth, Phone no, Starting salary and other details mentioned in the form. Processing: Storing the details of employees Output: The exact details of Employees stored in the database. 7.5.2 Employee Tracking Details Introduction: Describe the details of work done in HR department Input: Employee attendance, upgrade of post. Processing: Admin will check the details and store to the transaction database. Output: Display the work details employees. 7.5.3 Candidate Details Introduction: Candidate will register and apply for the jobs Input: candidate will enter the details of registration by accessing the site. Processing: system will check the type of user and give privileges to the customer. Output: Candidate can view the status of his interview details 7.6 OTHER NONFUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS 7.6.1 Performance Requirements The proposed system that we are going to develop will be used by an incharge. Therefore, it is expected that the database would perform functionally all the requirements that are specified by the customer and without creating any lag. 7.6.2 Safety Requirements The database may get crashed at any certain time due to virus or operating system failure. Therefore, it is required to take the database backup. 7.6.3 Design Constraints The system must be designed to allow interactive user interface. That is, the system must be designed in such a way that it will be easy to use along with the data provided.
