Two Adult Studies Today – You are invited to gather for Bible study and sharing today at 10:45
a.m. in the café area or following the 10:45 service in the large classroom. All are welcome!

Ash Wednesday Worship – Join us for a meaningful Ash Wednesday worship experience, this
Wednesday at 7 p.m. This is a great time to seek renewal and a fresh start.

Congregational Meeting Feb. 13 – SoJ’s annual congregational meeting will be held


Wednesday, Feb. 13th at 7 p.m. The agenda will include a review of 2007, adopting a 2008 budget,
and electing new Leadership Team and Nominating Committee members. All confirmed members
are asked to attend. The meeting will be preceded by our Youth’s Chili Cook Off from 6 to 7pm.

Young Adult Worship – This gathering of young adults from several churches meets 7:30pm to-
morrow at St. Luke’s UMC on the West side of town. For more information, see Phil Greve. To stay

Women’s Bible Study Tuesday – The Women’s Bible study meets Tuesday, 7:15 p.m. at SoJ.

Wednesday Night Live! – SoJ’s mid-week faith and friendship building activity night!
6:15-7 p.m. Dinner: Pizza. Donation: $3. Sign up at Welcome Center!

…and an Adult Bible Study.
Card Game Fun Friday – Enjoy a casual and fun evening of cards 7pm Friday @ SoJ. Light snacks
will be provided. Bring your own beverages and cards. Sign up at the Welcome Center today.

Lenten Prayer Retreat Saturday – Sign-up today for SoJ’s Prayer Retreat Saturday from 9:30am
– 3:30pm at SoJ. Learn some simple activities to enliven your prayer life! Experience prayer
through reading Scripture, listening to music, the visual arts, and silence. Our retreat leader is Dr.
Jonathan Linman (brother of Pastor Jeff), the Director of the Center for Christian Spirituality at the
Episcopal Church Seminary in New York City. Suggested donation: $15, lunch included.

Women’s Heart to Heart Pajama Party Feb. 15 – All women are invited to take a trip down
memory lane and relive some teenage slumber party memories, Friday, Feb. 15 , from 7-10pm in
SoJ’s youth room. There’ll be music, games, food, sharing and fun. Sign-up at Welcome Center!

Women’s Book Club Feb. 19 – SoJ’s Women’s Book club will discuss Faith Club by Ranya Idliby,
Suzanne Oliver, and Priscilla Warner at their next meeting, February 19, at 7:15 p.m. If it’s a book
you’d like to talk about, please join us. Call Diane Belk at 249-9195 for more details.

February Outreach Team Project – SoJ's Outreach Team is collecting dried or canned beans for
Harvest of Hope. Place donations in the wagon by the cafe by Sunday, Feb 17. Monetary
donations are welcomed too. Mark an SoJ offering envelope HoH and place it in the offering
basket.

IHN Orientation Session – If you hope to volunteer as a cook, server or host with IHN and have
not attended an orientation presented by IHN staff, plan to attend the next orientation at SoJ, Feb.
28th from 7-9pm. To sign up or ask questions call Dick Lovisone, 407-384-8178.

Creative Arts Studio – Interested in learning how you can support the outreach of the Creative
Arts Studio to our community? Contact Phil Greve! Volunteers are needed at a variety of levels,
from baking cookies for recitals to helping plan the next Deck the Halls event. If you have a heart
for helping others discover and develop their artistic gifts we can find a place for you to serve!

Faith@Work – Volunteers are needed to send out the Faith@Work online devotions one month
every four months. For information call, Eleanor Kuhles, 658-6327 or Dick Lovisone, 384-8178.

Quilting Team – Quilters meet the first and third Thursday, February 7 and 21 at 9:30am. Plan to
go to lunch too. Used king-size mattress pads and fabrics are needed. Questions? Call Quaidie

Bicycle Ministry – Volunteers are needed to help repair bicycles for people in need at 10am on
the 2nd Saturday and 10 am on Wednesdays. To get involved call Will Stevenback, 407-401-1963.

Souper Bowl of Caring Today – SoJ’s youth are collecting donations of dollars and canned food
today so that all may have a “Souper” Sunday. Our goal is 100 cans of food (proteins and fruit
preferred) and $1 from everyone! All cash and food donations will be used to support Converge
Food Ministries in East Orange County.

Scout Sunday – Today is Scout Sunday across the country. SoJ sponsors Cub Scout Pack 134 at 7
p.m. on Monday nights. Any boy age 6 to 11 years old interested in being a Cub Scout should
contact Chuck Call @ 407-375-4548.

Sunday’s COOL – Students will now be split into three classes, based on grade level: Pre-K, K &
1st Grade; 2nd & 3rd Grade, and 4th & 5th Grade classes. Students will check in at individual classes.
Signs are posted by the door of the Splash Zone and Classroom to designate classes. 2 nd–5th

grade students should bring their Bibles to Sunday’s COOL. Openings are still available for
Assistants for both services to assist the 4, 5, & 6 year olds with crafts and projects. Please sign
up in the Welcome Center or the Splash Zone.

Chili Cook-Off For Youth Mission Trips Wednesday February 13 – Join us for the 3rd Annual
Chili Cook Off for Youth Mission Trips starting at 6pm Wednesday, February 13 th (right before SoJ’s
Annual Meeting). Please sign up in the Welcome Center soon to donate/enter your chili in the
competition. Monetary donations will be matched by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and used for
transportation for this summer’s youth mission trips.

YouthWorks Summer Trip Update! SoJ’s Middle School Youth will be traveling to Savannah, GA
while our High School Youth travel to Bayou La Batre, AL to help with hurricane cleanup. A $50
deposit is due now! Don’t let money be a barrier! Please see our Family Ministry Coordinator,
Nicole Eastwood. Male & Female Adults are needed to chaperone these two trips.

Paid Nursery Attendant Opening –SoJ is still looking to hire a part-time nursery attendant to
work Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interested? See Nicole Eastwood.

Youth Recycling Project – SoJ’s youth recycle inkjet, laser cartridges, AND cell phones. Drop
them in the appropriate box at the Welcome Center. Thanks for your support.

Joy Singers – SoJ’s adult choir will not rehearse the next two weeks (Ash Wednesday worship and
Congregational Meeting). Rehearsals will resume Wednesday, Jan. 20th from 7-8.

Children’s Choir – SoJ’s children’s choir will not rehearse this week so that families may attend
the Ash Wednesday Worship. Rehearsals resume Wed., Jan. 13th from 7-8 in the large classroom.

Joyful Noise – This is the Sunday morning worship team, which prepares new music each week to
lead our congregation in worship at 9:00 and 10:45. If interested, see Phil about taking a Musical
Gifts Assessment to be a part of this group.

Drama Team – SoJ’s Drama Team consists of writers and actors who are interested in utilizing
their talents in short skits to enhance the worship experience. If you would like to be involved in
the Drama Team, please contact Sandy and Doug Gaston at 407-382-4027.

Children’s Art Class – Nancy Watson’s next art class for 7-10 yr. olds starts tomorrow at 5 p.m.

Private Music Lessons – SoJ’s Creative Arts Studio has 12 instructors teaching almost every
instrument and voice. For more information or to register, pick up a flyer at the Welcome Center.
