Rebecca Mitchell was herself a victim of sexual abuse and wanted to provide a place in her community of understanding and support to those who had also experienced abuse. Into The Lights philosophy is that change and healing come by: Giving Information, Breaking Isolation, Sharing Experience.

WHAT IS SOMATICS?

! ! !

Soma comes from the Greek word referring to the living body in its wholeness - beyond intellect and knowledge to include sensation, temperature, movement, pulsation as well as our images, thoughts, attitudes, yearnings, dreams and language. [Richard Strozzi-Heckler, Ph.D.]! Somatic Coaching . treat[s] the body as a fundamental place of change, learning, and transformation. We hold that the self and the body are indistinguishable and by working through the body we can directly work with the self. [Richard Strozzi-Heckler, Ph.D.]! Developing somatic awareness deepens the work practitioners can do with their clients. With improved self-attunement to their stress response, practitioners can monitor themselves and their clients in a moment to moment way. This enhances the relationship in the room and provides in vivo growthful opportunities for the client to practice new ways of being (something which goes beyond new behaviours).

For the things we have to learn, before we can do them, we learn by doing them.!

Love and Fear within Supervision; A Masterclass with Robin Shohet

Suitable for Supervisors, Counsellors/Therapists and Psychologists

Fear knocked at the door. Love answered and there was no-one there
Sufi Maxim.

One to One Project is proud to invite Robin Shohet to deliver his popular masterclass Love and Fear within Supervision.

I have been running Love and Fear workshops for many years and I find it a privilege to see how, once fears are shared, what remains is love. It is sometimes very hard to spot fear as it is an expert at disguising itself to maintain its existence coming under the guise of jealousy, envy, comparisons, regret, justified anger even. In fact anything that stops us being present. During this interactive masterclass, we will work with the feelings in the room to see how these might affect our supervision practices, so that we may be more open to ourselves, our supervisee and the work we do. We will explore our core beliefs as supervisors and counsellors and examine how fear can impact relationships with clients and within supervision and how well our core beliefs support us in taking leaps into the unknown. An opportunity not to be missed!

Robin Shohet is co-author with Peter

Hawkins of "Supervision in the Helping Professions" third edition published by the Open University Press in 2006 and editor of Passionate Supervision Jessica Kingsley (2007). He is also the Co-founder of the Centre for Supervision and Team Development (www.cstdlondon.co.uk).
