15 APRIL 2014 MEMORANDUM FOR Unit Leaders, AZ Army & Air National Guard SUBJECT: EANGUS and EANGA Scholarships

1. Enclosed you will find Scholarship Application forms and information describing four scholarship programs offered by the Arizona Enlisted Association, specifically for Arizona Army and Air National Guard members or dependents. The information provided below describes the minimum number of scholarships that will be awarded for 2014; additional scholarships may be available contingent upon our fund-raising efforts. As a member of the Enlisted Association, there are also additional scholarship opportunities available from Grantham University, University of Phoenix and others; those programs will be announced separately. a. The Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States offers the CSM Virgil R. Williams Memorial Scholarship which generally awards ten, $2,000 scholarships annually. The minimum scholarships to be awarded is two; ten were awarded each year for the last several years, including 2013. This is the National Scholarship Program and winners will be announced during the EANGUS Conference which is being held in Phoenix, AZ on 10-14 August 2014. b. Through a generous donation from the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort, the Enlisted Association National Guard of Arizona will offer three scholarships this year, one - $1,000 scholarship and two - $750 scholarships. This award titled the CMSGT Gerald R. Guild Memorial Scholarship will be presented by the AZ Enlisted Association and a resort representative at an appropriate ceremony during the State Conference or sometime after 1 May 2014. c. Additionally, through our local association, USAA is offering one, $750 scholarship this year. This scholarship titled the Harry & Mary Hensell Scholarship is funded by USAA and will be presented during an appropriate ceremony during the State Conference or after 1 May 2014. 2. The Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States Auxiliary also sponsors an annual scholarship program. Details concerning their program are available upon request. The scholarship recipients will also be announced during the EANGUS National Conference in August. 3. We encourage increased participation in this scholarship program and request your assistance in posting or publishing the availability of these scholarships to eligible AZNG personnel and their dependents. Eligibility criteria and requirements are described within the scholarship packets. The suspense date for submission of ALL applications is 15 April 2014.
