Document Objectives
When installing ProSteel on multiple workstations, all workstations should be using the same Dataset which will be loaded/used from the server location. This document explains how to set up a server configuration for ProSteel.

Configuration File
The configuration file can be loaded from the ProSteel Options dialog box. You can open the ProSteel Options dialog box from the menu by choosing ProSteel ProSteel Options. Once open, the first step is to change to Expert Mode from the Dialog settings page.

With the expert mode setting selected a new entry is shown at the end of the list called Files. From here you can open the configuration file by clicking on the Main Configuration button.

The configuration file for ProSteel will then open in a text editor and you can make changes and save them. You will want to set the mode back to Beginner under Dialog settings as soon as you are finished editing this file. The reason for this is because Help graphics, throughout the program, are only shown when you are in beginner mode. It is also possible to open the configuration file directly with a text editor. The name of this file is pro_st3d.cfg and the location is: C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProSteel\V8i\AutoCAD 2009\Prg\Config or similar depending on the platform and ProSteel version. It is recommended that you save a copy of the original file before you make any changes.

Folder Paths
Here are some explanations for the various folder paths that can be used and what they are used for. (Path may vary depending on the platform and ProSteel version used.) DATAPATH=C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProSteel\V8i\AutoCAD 2009\Data Loading of databases such as standard shapes and bolts. TEMPPATH=C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProSteel\V8i\AutoCAD 2009\Temp Here ProSteel saves every last dialog entries and dialog positions. This folder must stay local. Adjusting Configuration
The first step in preparing a server configuration is to copy all of the folders youd like to load from the network, to a network path. All users must have reading and saving rights for. *The best way to do this is to create the required path on the server and then map that path as a different drive letter. Use the mapped drive in the second step. The second step is to change the folder paths in the pro_st3d.cfg file to match these new network paths or mapped drive. Please check and make sure that there is a line break after the last path in the configuration file, otherwise the last path will not be read by ProSteel. The configuration file (pro_st3d.cfg) must be changed on all work stations. The best way to do this is to change it once and then copy it.
