At the time of Establishment,Known as: ‘CUTTWA HIGH SCHOOL’

Chief Patron For Establishment: The then S.D.O- Hare Krishna Deb Bahadur ( of the
Royal Family of Sobha Bazar)

Initial Location: Near the present Water Supply Office of Katwa Municipality

At the time of Establishment, the school started with only 3 classrooms with a limited no.
of students.

Year 1898: 2 halls and 2 more classrooms were built No. of students :300

Year 1898: first hostel of school started at a rented house Initial Inmates:13

Year 1899:separate hostel for Muslim students built Initial Inmates:8

Year 1911: proposal taken for new building of school ( The existing main-building of
KDI) President of Committee of New Building: the then SDO-Tarak Chandra Roy
Land(More than 3 acres) donated by-Monmohini Chowdhurani and her family The
donated land includes the entire school-campus of today along with Katwa College
Campus

Financial Help For New Building of School: public donation along with government aid
New Buiding Inaugurated By: Mr Mobberly, the then D.M (January,1912)

School ofiicially renamed as Kashiram Das Institution from 12th Feb,1912 to pay homage
to great poet Kashiram Das,born at Singi village adjacent to Katwa

Year 1912: Hostel of New Building Built: Heycock Hindu Hostel.Construction

Stared:1911 Located at the north-west side of Main Building of School (existed till 1993)

Year 1920: First School Magazine :NABARUN published

Year 1937: Hostel for Muslim students -‘Anderson Hostel’ built;(where now the present-
day SBI-Katwa College Branch is located; Donated to Katwa College in the 1950)

Year 1936: Surya Narayan Memorial Hall built by Nrisinha Prasad Das in the memory of
his son,Surya Narayan Das after his untimely demise

Year 1937: 4 new rooms built(the present-day staff-room and adjacent room+ present-
day room no.18&19- the then library)

Year1957: School given the status of Higher Secondary School(the then Std XI)

Year 1970: Co-education system started Girls admitted to Std XI level Co-education
system abolished soon

Year 1976: Std XII started
