Questions and frequently asked questions

frequently asked question: I forgot to download the entry form after i have nished the online registration. How do i get another copy of the form? Usually given answer: You will receive an conrmation mail about your registration. In this email there is an attachment with the entry form. You can also log into your prole at :output. You will be able to download the entry form here as well. 25 Euro for each project You need to pay the entry fee immediatly. Latest deadline is 7 days after registration. Until then also the signed entry form needs to arrive at us. If a project consists of different parts you need to pay only one entry fee (= 25 Euro). It is important though that the different parts are all based on one concept (otherwise we approve only one part for the competition). Yes, thats possible. BUT: Do not create a new prole. Log into your existing :output account instead. You will then be able to upload more projects. You will receive an entry/payment form at the end of the process for all projects you have paid for within one session. Please sign and send us all entry/payment form which you have received from us. No. Only if the jury selects your work for publication we will need highres les from you. In this case we will ask for those les in a separate email. The deadline for submission is always february 15. As a friend of :output you can submit as many of your own (!) projects as you like without paying an entry fee.

How much is the entry fee? When do i have to pay?

My project consists of different parts (e.g. a website and a book). Is this considered to be one project or do i need to pay entry fees for each part seperately?

I have completed the registration for one (or more) projects. I now would like to register another project. Is that possible?

Anyone who is currently studying communication design, product design, architecture, interaction design or lm at a university or a college is eligible to participate. Students who have graduated within the last 12 months may also submit nal degree works. Any work, which has been produced as a student project, is eligible for submission. The work may not be older than one year. The project does not have to be published. Work related to any area of design and architecture, such as: graphic design / architecture / product design / typography / photography/ illustration / typeface design / multimedia, moving image and television graphics / experience design is eligible for submission. Latest date for submissions is February 15, 2010 (date of postage). All projects submitted to the :output competition will be eligible for the :output Grand Prix. The winner of the :output Grand Prix will be chosen by the jury and will receive a scholarship of 3,000 Euro. We reserve the right for the jury, however, to allocate the prize money in a manner they deem appropriate. All works to be included in the yearbook :output and the winner of the :output Grand Prix are selected by an international jury of renowned designers and educators. We reserve the right to appoint jury members differing to our annoucements in case this should be necessary due to external circumstances. You have to register your submission in our online registration (no matter what format the project is):

How to make submissions?

All works (except interactive/large videos) must be submitted in digital format. Images must be jpg-images (800x 600 pixel max.; 72 dpi; RGB). The images must be submitted through our online upload (you can nd instructions in the registration area). We do not accept images send as attachment of e-mails and also not les larger than specied above. Videos can also be uploaded through our online registration by using youtube or vimeo. Large interactive/lm projects can be submitted on a CD ROM or DVD for Macintosh. Please do not send videotapes. The name of the student and the titel of the work have to be written on the CD (please do not use stickers!!!) We cannot return any submitted material. On an extra sheet, please provide a short description of each work giving information on its background. Group entries What are the fees? If this a submitted project is a collaboration, please provide all names of the participants. The fee is kept to an absolute minimum, and is used only to nance the organisation of the project. All works selected for publication will be printed free of any further charges. Entry fee per work: 25 Euro Unfortunately we are unable to accept any currency other than Euro or US$ at the exchange rate on the day of payment. Becoming a friend of :output and supporting the ideas of the :output foundation also means that you save the entry fee and will receive a copy of the current yearbook as a gift. No matter if the data for a submission has been uploaded on our server or send by post on a CD/DVD: One entry form for each work has to be completed and send to us by post. Also enclosed has to be a completed payment form (if you use the online registration the payment form is part of the entry form). Payment is possible by Pay-Pal , bank transfer or cash. In concrete terms: What needs to be included in my postage package to :output: 1. One entry form for each project 2. A description of the work for each project 3. CD ROM/DVD (if you have not uploaded the project onto our server) 4. One payment form for the whole package (the payment form is part of the entry form you will receive at the end of the registration process) Your submission must be complete, otherwise it cannot be processed!!!
