photography
depends on the camera i n

The Ni kon SB-19

two
automati c modes of ooerati on:
A and B. The A mode can be
used wi t h al l Ni kon cameras,
whereas the B mode i s reserved
excl usi vel y for the Ni kon FG-20
and EM wi t h an Al -S Ni kkor, Ni kon
Seri es E, or Al -Ni kkor l ens at -
tached. Wi th Al -modi fi ed l enses
and non-Al l enses, the B mode
cannot be used.
oThe
Zoom-Nikkor 35-105mm f/3.5-
f/4.5 cannot be used in the B mode
even though it is an AIS Nikkor lens.
Also, when a teleconverter is at-
tached, the A mode must be used.

As soon as t he SB-19' s ready-l i ght l i ght s up, t he f l ash uni t i s ready t o
fi re. The ready-l i ght of current Ni kon cameras al so comes on, so
you
don' t have to take
your
eye away from the vi ewfi nder. Note that the
camera' s meter must fi rst be turned on to acti vate the vi ewfi nder ready-
l i ght .
oThe
ready-light will light up when the 58-79 ls recycled to approx. 80o/o full
capacity. Therefore, it is recommended that you
wait for a few more seconds
when shooting sub/ects located at the far limit of the auto shooting range.
.With
alkaline-manganese batteries, if the ready-light takes more than 30 sec. to
light up,
you
should replace the batteries with a f resh set

Both ready-lights will blink it the shooting mode selector ls set at B with cameras
other than FG-20 and EM.

When you
depress the shutter rel ease button, the SB-19 fi res for
f l ash shoot i ng. Af t er a shor t whi l e, t he r eady- l i ght t i ght s up agai n t o i ndi -
cate when the fl ash i s ready for the next shot.

the flash unit fired at its maximum output, the ready-light blinks for approx.
2 seconds as a warning immediately following the sf,ot to indicate there stilt may
be underexposure. ln thls case, check the combination ol shooting distance and
apetture selected, and use a wider aperture or move closer to the subiect if
necessary.

f i r e at i t s maxi mum out put by set t i ng t he FG- 20 or EM at M90 or B when t he
SB-19 i s used i n the B mode.
By usi ng the aperture sel ecti on/auto shooti ng range tabl e, you can determi ne
the shooti ng aperture for maxi mum output by referri ng to the maxi mum shoot-
i ng di st ance

and a subj ect 5m away, the correct aperture i s f/4. You can al so determi ne

In the B mode
You can use ei ther the camera' s exposure compensati on button or

These accessori es convert the accessory shoe of F3-seri es cameras
to the standard ISO-type accessory shoe, al l owi ng di rect attachment
