Marty & Gloria in Rome Summer 2013

MAXIMILIANO These are days of tremendous difficulties and challenges for many in Italy, especially the younger generation. But our first young Italian member Maximiliano was baptized on April 6th where we joined together with our friends. Since then he has faced the struggle of finding full-time employment. He is doing small jobs here and there; its beautiful to see his hunger and grow in the Lord. Pray that he can find a job.

SABINA
As many of our members are separated from family far away, It was a thrill for one of our members to have their mothers visit Sabina and through her visit she put her trust and gave her life in Jesus! She has been attending a church in Peru but never gave her life in faith to God. She has returned and is attending the church near by her home. Pray that Sabina can grow in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus and get baptized.

Glorias visit to Germany and Sweden in April. GERMANY - In April Gloria attended a Workshop on Church Planting in Basel, Germany. A very helpful and an affirming week on doing what has been in our hearts and about doing projects and programs for the church. SWEDEN Gloria spent one week in Sweden, where she helped lead and teach a Retreat for Anas help ministry Team and gave them a hand at a Local Radio Station with one hour Air program in Spanish. Its been 10 years that Gloria has been visiting the Ulriksberg Church located in the south of Sweden and they have graciously adopted us to have us on their prayer Missionary list. How much we thank and praise the Lord! Gods plan was beyond what we could imagine 10 years ago...

Home groups are way we can better reach out through members to their family and neighbors. For some events using our church meeting place during the week is limited. This demands we travel around a bit more, and this usually helps bring together different people. Pray for salvation for a Romanian lady and her daughter who comes to the cell group in the north of Rome. Nefarious is the title of a documentary that has toured the world bringing awareness to the global sex trafficking scourge that is so evident in Italy. Our friends Brian and Sarah Bennetch are representatives here in Rome furthering the cause and developing networks in reaching out to mostly immigrant women caught in a diabolical web of abuse in this regard. We had the Bennetchs for a Sunday of sharing with the congregation. Pray for how we can be involved.

Marty - Studies at the Pontifical University have been 6 days a week the last semester in the mornings, but since I needed more Italian language (and still do, now in practice mode) I was quite busy a few afternoons and Saturday morning. Many classes in Philosophy subjects and then the weekly Latin class (above) has got me up to speed (in the Ecclesiastical system) to now continue part time at the graduate level and seek the Lord if I should do a Doctorate. This has been the best way to learn Italian. But after 4-5 languages and into my 50, s progress is much slower. On top of this, God provided a car through many of you, but I cannot legally drive until I get my Italian license. Studying for this license has proven challenging on top of my work load. Gloria also has tried to keep up with language studies 3 days a week, she also is coming alone with her Italian but also she sees her class as a missions field because she get to know many different people from around the world and beliefs, whom have come to Italy for political asylum or a better life. Do pray for us as we will help some of them with language this summer.

Our Health - Over the last months we both have had some health issue. Gloria has Shingles which has effected her nerves in her right side of her back. She has been hindered in how much she can carry. Marty heart arrhythmia comes on during times of stress. We are doing better now and keep the pace going. His Grace is Sufficient! This summer will slow down and stay cool. We need to rest more and hope to have a very much needed Break or vacation some day. CAR Update - Thanks to many of you, we were able to purchase this 2004 Fiat that also runs on methane gas and the $150 a month just for insurance. Marty will not be able to get his Italian license until at least September. Do pray for Marty that when due time comes he will be able to past all the required tests so we can use the car.
