One of the unique aspects of the Stolpman tasting room is a

Edward Sellers Named in Top 10

Wine Spectator named Edward Sellers Vineyards and Wines as one
of the top 10 up-andicoming Rhone producers in California!
This tribute, detailed in the March 31 issue of the magazine,
came as something of a surprise to owner and namesake Edward
Sellers. “We work very hard to produce well-balanced, food-
friendly wines,” he said. “Being recognized for our efforts and
named as a standout – especially among the great producers who
also appeared on Wine Spectator’s list – was an honor for our
relatively new brand. It also puts another feather in the cap of
Paso Robles as an emerging region for superb Rhone varietal
wines.
Ed and Dani Sellers started their eponymous winery in the
summer of 2004, and now showcases some of the best Rhone
varietal wines in Paso Robles, all of them displaying a distinct
California twist on traditional Rhone varieties and blends.
Although modeled after the great French Rhône River Valley
wines, these ultra-premium wines speak distinctly of their
progressive California Central Coast origins.

Villa Valdemosa – A European

Vacation on California’s Coast
by Leah Kolt
No worries about the weak dollar if you want to travel to France or
Italy and do some wine tasting this year.
You can have all of the ambience of a Mediterranean villa in Paso
Robles at Villa Valdemosa, a 10-acre estate with a luxurious bed and
breakfast inn – just 10 minutes east of downtown Paso, and yet a
world away. Vineyards are under development on the property for a
boutique winery planned for construction next year.
Perched on a hilltop, the inn offers “forever” views of surrounding
vineyards, olive groves and lavender. A range of well-appointed suites
— called “Bordeaux,” “Petite Syrah” and “Syrah” – are available at
prices that undercut the rates of area hotels that have much less to
offer.
Owner Tom Roebuck is himself a winemaker and you might even
talk him into serving up his private reserves, such as the 2003 Mystral,
a gold-medal-winning red blend.
While you won’t see a television screen in the 5,000-square-foot
Fine Wine… villa, you will be soothed by the strains of Mozart from an extensive
stereo network. You might even be treated to some live grand piano
Friendl y P eo ple or guitar music, courtesy of local musicians who occasionally drop by.
