Production Order Processing

Overview

Introduction
The main purpose of order execution is to control shop/assembly floor functions, capture the actual uantities produced, the labor re uired and the ra! materials consumed during the manufacturing production and compare it to planned figures" The reconciliation of scrap as it pertains to the production order is entered for the production order" This allo!s finance to determine the costs incurred during production" The order is the cost collector for production" The outputs of this production also ser#es additional do!nstream functions of $ales % Procurement for the &TP chec'ing of stoc' in in#entory for sales order processing" Once the production order has been released, production may begin on the factory floor" Order execution consists of tas's, namely( )a! Material *oods Issues, Order Partial +onfirmations, ,inal +onfirmations, Materials -ac' ,lushing and ,inished *oods )eceipt" In bet!een, !e ha#e .$tatus +ontrol/ in action" $tatus +ontrol is an $&P0specific order management based on internal logic rules to assure action and cost flo!" It is important to note that any transactions completed during production processing are reflected at the time of the transaction and reflect on the production order" Material Goods Issue Typically before the manufacturing production begins, ra! materials are dra!n from in#entory and issued directly to the production order or are mo#ed 1stoc'0location to stoc'0location2 from a !arehouse location to a production line location defined by $&P" They can be issued manually or automatically, referred to as a -ac'flush" Once the materials are issued to the order, the in#entory is reduced and the cost is attached to the production order" If materials are not a#ailable in the system then the order can still progress !ithout the issue of ra! materials" 3hen -ac'flushing is utili4ed, then materials can be allocated to specific operations in the production and consumed only after the operation has been confirmed" 3hen batch management has been acti#ated for a material or material 1s2, the batch number is optional or re uired to be entered during the goods issue or bac'flushing process" -3&5 !ill use batch management for the metal coils" -3&5 !ill not batch manage other materials" -3&5 !ill enter the batch number for the coil during the goods issue or during the production order confirmation !ith the material bac'flushing" The batch process for coils ends at that point"

Introduction 7 continued 1) Conversion o Planned Order Planned orders are generated as the result of an M)P )un" &n M)P run !ill consider all the top le#el and assembly and sub0assembly based on forecast, firm customer orders 1sales orders2 and a deli#ery schedule to the customer" &s soon as a planned order or other re uest is generated from material re uirements planning, the information is passed on to shop floor control and the order0rele#ant data is added to ensure complete order processing" Planned orders can be con#erted to Production Orders for ,inished % $emi0,inished materials and Purchase )e uisitions for )a! materials" Planned order con#ersion to Production order can be done indi#idually or by a collecti#e process to con#ert many orders on one screen" & planned order may be created manually by the planner as re uired outside of M)P" Planned orders may also be manually confirmed by the planner and M)P !ill not change a firm planned order" !) Creation o General Production Order & Production Order can also be created directly 1not con#erting a Planned Order2" In the case of some urgent firm +ustomer Orders this may be used !here time is a constraint for executing an M)P run % then con#erting Planned Order" & planner may need to manually create productions orders irrespecti#e of M)P results" The production order defines !hich material is to be processed, at !hich location, at !hat time and ho! much !or' is re uired" It also defines !hich resources are to be used and ho! the order costs are to be settled" Production Order start date % uantity can be manually changed to match !ith the loading schedule" ,or a general Production Order, the order type !ill be PP89 !ith a standard settlement profile" 3hen a Production Order is settled, the actual costs incurred for the order are settled to one or more recei#er cost0ob:ects 1for example, to the account for the material produced or to a sales order2" Offsetting entries are generated automatically to credit the production order" In the standard system, the system re uires that the production order is assigned to the material to be produced" The settlement recei#er in this case is the material/s stoc' account" 3here a production order is settled to a material account, the amount settled is the difference bet!een the actual costs incurred for the order and the costs credited to the order !hen the goods produced !ere deli#ered to stoc'" ") Creation o #ewor$ Production Order It is sometimes necessary during or at the end of a production process to execute additional operations in order to impro#e components or products that ha#e been made !ith insufficient uality" These additional processing steps are referred to as re!or'" & )e!or' Production order is a special type of Production order !hich may be used to re!or' a product or an existing production line" & )e!or' Production order !ill not ha#e any fixed -OM or )outing and ha#e a type of Production Order that !ill allo! the order type to be ;)3<" These orders are not to be used on regular basis and in most cases different 'ind of components and operations !ill be re uired" ,or this reason the -OM or )outing is not maintained for this type of order" $o the user has to manually add components and operations 1)outing2 during confirmation of such an order" The cost can be captured #ia these components % operations" This type of order !ill ha#e a different settlement profile"
