BIOGRAPHICAL DATA

The researcher was born on December 26, 1993 at PoblacionKabacan, North Cotabato. He is the youngest son of Mr. Danilo C. Viloria and Mrs. Evangeline Viloria. He started his educational journey at Kabacan Pilot Central School and graduated in 2006. He pursued his secondary education at Kabacan National High School Annex-Osias in 2010. He enrolled his tertiary education at the University of Southern Mindanao, Kabacan, Cotabato where he took up Bachelor of Science in Development Management major in Public Affairs Management. He is member of Gamma Kappa Phi fraternity.

This study aimed to find out the Contributions of Internet Facilities to the Academic Performance of the Students in the College of Engineering and Computing in the University of Southern Mindanao. This was conducted from November to December 2013 involving 82 respondents. The main objective of this study was to determine the Contributions of Internet Facilities to the Academic Performance of the Students in College of Engineering and Computing. The findings of the study could be summarized as follows: on the socio-economic profile of the respondents, results revealed that majority of the respondents are male, aged 20-21 years old, weekly allowance 488-584, regular by students status. The respondents perception on different internet facilities they are using, based on the result, the most internet facilities they are using is Google.

On the reasons of the respondents in using internet facilities, according to the result, the majority reasons of the respondents in using internet facilities is to browse for an answer for subjects requirements. The perception of the respondents to the advantages and

disadvantages of using internet facilities, based on the result, the majority advantages in using internet facilities is it helps to do school requirements easily. The majority answer in disadvantages of using internet facilities is it tempted to open other websites. On the problems encountered by respondents and their coping mechanism, majority said that their problem in using different internet facilities is time management. To solve the problems, they said that they must do research first before opening other websites and discipline their time. They also consider Virus threat as a problem which causes corrupting their files. To solve the problems, they said that they minimize in downloading, keep on scanning and reformat. They also consider as a problem in no accurate data and get wrong information. To cope up the problem, they said that their searching on books. Lastly, they have a problem in games addiction. To solve this problem, they said that they concentrate on researching and set aside the games and minimize in playing online games. Based on the results of the study, the researcher would like to recommend the following: 1) the respondents should control their time in using internet so that they wont be exposed in radiation and do relevant things first

such as research and set aside those other websites. 2) the respondents should be careful in downloading so the virus wont ruin their important files. 3) the respondents should avoid the online games and other social networking sites instead they must concentrate in their studies and research. 4) the respondents should also read a book on the library and not just depending in the information in the internet so that they will get the accurate answers.
