The IIP reports are generally prepared according to guidelines from the International Monetary Fund as they appear in
the Balance of Payment Manual 5 (BPM5). Due to an absence of data, there are a number of exceptions to the IMF
guidelines.
Principal

The balances in the sections on direct

investments,
non-bank
creditare:
and deposits in foreign banks are partially
calculated as the total of transactions reported by the banking system, while according to the IMF guidelines, they
should be calculated according to market value or book value.
The balances on the assets side and on the liabilities side do not include real estate held directly (not through a
company).
All investments in non-tradable company shares are classified as direct investments, while according to the
IMF guidelines, investments that do not exceed 10 percent should be classified as other investments.
The figures in the report for the current quarter are based partly on estimates; further updates are possible after final figures are received.
