Development Project Engineer (Contract) : June 2006 to Date

Employer : The Corporation of the City of Guelph, ON
• Review development applications for Engineering issues and environmental concerns,
outlining the conditions to be imposed to Draft Plan Approval to address these concerns.
• Review of Engineering Drawings, design calculations and Erosion & Sedimentation Control
Plans to ensure conformance with the City Design Standards & specifications.
• Review of Storm Water Management Reports and lot Grading & Drainage Plans confirming
the design of SWM facilities as per MOE design guidelines and GRCA requirements.
• Prepare Engineering Servicing Agreement and subdivision Agreements. Identify the lands
required for easements, reserves and conveyances and coordinate with City Solicitor to
acquire those land parcels.
• Construction monitoring and financial administration of development projects including
processing of payment certificates, invoices and interim accounting for LC reductions.
• Implementation of appropriate engineering measures required for erosion & sediments
control and storm water management of site to address the environmental concerns.
• Coordinate input of other operating departments of the City into approval process and
updating of development standards.
• Liaise with external agencies and respond to public concerns and Consultants queries.

• Coordinate pre-consultation, preliminary meetings with consultants and city/town officials
to determine design and other specific requirements for land development proposals.
• Liaise and Coordinate with consultants to finalize engineering servicing plans including
storm water management, erosion and sediment control measures, sewer design, road
geometrics and grading control plans.
• Read and analyze contracts, proposals, project plans and specifications to develop tenders
and other contract documents.
• Prepare and analyze the budget and cost estimates for servicing proposals and security
deposits adjustments for various development projects.
 • Oversee that the storm & sewer installation, water main connections and other
infrastructures are in conformance with the approved plans/drawings and specifications.
• Review design modifications, contract documents, payment certificates and change orders
for job cost tracking and control of the project.
• Assisted site staff to deal with the design variations, site restriction and variances and
scheduling of construction activities for timely completion of land development projects.

Project : Roads Construction & Drainage Projects

• Prepare designs, cost estimates and tender documents for sanitary and storm
sewers of roadwork projects.
• Analyze the topographic surveys and prepare and finalize the road plans to
maintain drainage and erosion control. Conducted site visits to verify the
accuracy of grades and modified the drainage plans as per site conditions.
• Construction administration of various drainage structures to ensure that work
completed is in conformance with the contract drawings and specifications.
• Monitored construction of road’s substructures and asphalt cement surfacing for
flexible pavements.
