Chapter 1

"Yes, Mistress," I droned sleepily. "I am deeply hypnotized." I couldn't feel any part of my body, nor the bed I had been sitting on just a few minutes prior. It was as if it had been drained away into the cloudy bliss that swirled in my eyes. Everything was absolutely dreamy and dark. Her words caressed my eardrums, forcing my mind to let go of its grip on reality and sink down into her control. "Good girl," she cooed, and I could feel her stroking my hair. "You know, Zoie, if you just surrender to me completely, this will be so much easier." I couldn't help but give in. --My freshman year at Litner University started with a bang. The first few nights were parties. Fun. Alcohol. New friends. I met people, then met even more people. More friends than I could manage on a social network. From innocent, brainy girl in high school to party-hopping college girl in nothing flat. I don't remember sleeping much at all, or any night where I wasn't dressed like a tramp and wandering around campus with my new friends. Of course, this was just a phase. The fun died down once classes started. I settled in with friends and got to work; no sense wasting my scholarship and hard work in high school in just one term. The niche was complete, at least for my first year. My roommate Stephanie, and two classmates, Hannah and Mae completed the circle. There were a few cool guys in there as well, but none really came close to penetrating our new circle. The closest was Jeff, who was Mae's boyfriend since high school and had tagged along to the same college. But every Friday night the four of us girls would hit up the parties again for the rest of the term. I liked these new girlfriends a lot. Stephanie was a chemistry major, Hannah and Mae psychology majors like myself. The latter two were in most of my classes, and we could all study together for our core introduction classes. Even with my party attitude on weekends, I was still rather bookish during the week. Sororities kept dropping fliers every which way to recruit me, but I kept my distance. Nothing I wanted to get involved it so early on. Stephanie and I got along very well. She was sportier than I was, but we always had fun hanging out and chatting. For the whole first term I went to her soccer games and made friends with some of her teammates, and occasionally hit up some of their parties later on. All in all, we became tight friends quickly, which I must say was a blessing to me after hearing so many roommate horror stories from my other friends.

On the other hand, Hannah and Mae were more like me. Dorks. We were the top of our classes back in high school and all wanted to do well in college. Hannah and I were pretty much your average university students, studying often and joining clubs. Mae would commute to school every day by train and spend the weekends with us. Her mother was an adjunct professor of engineering at Litner, and she was there on a free ride. A rich girl, but not once did she ever talk about it or show it. If I hadn't known any better, I would have guessed she was in the same boat as us with finances. At times, I felt Hannah was a bit reserved. She always kept to herself, or was a bit strange in her mannerisms. But I wasn't one to but into her life. Mae and I would often exchange whispers in class behind her, trying to psychoanalyze her with our limited knowledge. I'm pretty sure she caught on to our talking behind her back, so we ended up dropping it for a while, but she sure was a mystery. Okay, enough of boring you with my average college life. First term came and went, and were into winter break before we knew it. I talked to my girlfriends often online, and learned a little more about psychology. I read up on topics like hypnosis and suggestion. Fascinating topics, if you ask me. --Winter term started quietly, with us all returning from our happy breaks. Classes were just the same, although I was in a few more with Hannah this term. We agreed it would be best to study together whenever we needed to cram for our exams. Her roommate was always out somewhere, so her room was always a good and quiet place to study. However, it usually just turned into us talking for hours on end. She was an interesting girl. Thin rimmed glasses with a snarky smile underneath. She was just a bit shorter than me, and usually wore her long brown hair in a ponytail. When we were back in her room, she would then let her hair down and shake it around a bit, almost as if freeing herself from the dorky appeal she had out in public. It was during the second week of term that something...different happened. We had an assignment due that was taking us a bit of time. The work itself was on developmental psychology, but our focus was mostly on wishing our break was longer. As soon as we were in her room, she let her hair down once again and took off her sweatshirt to reveal her tanktop. One thing I noticed as she let her hair down was a new pair of earrings she was wearing. She wore earrings often, but I had never seen these before. They were little white globes, maybe about half an inch in diameter, hanging down about an inch from her ears. "I like your earrings," I said as I took my books out and placedthem on the desk before sitting on the bed. "Are they new? "Huh?" She looked at me for a moment before it dawned on her. "Oh yeah, I just finished making these yesterday." "You made them? That's awesome, they look very nice on you. I didn't know you made jewelry." I reached up and touched my own earrings, wondering if she could make me something. "Yep, I've been making them from time to time, but not too often." She shrugged and smiled again. "I'm too busy usually." "Did you start them over break?" "No, only a few days ago. I had a friend help me for an experiment. Actually, you might be able to help out..."

"Help out? I'll help you out with whatever you like. But what is it?" She sat down on the bed with me, and pushed me over playfully. I fell on my back and stretched out like I had much needed to. "A project of mine. I had a friend of mine help me, and now I'm ready to go onto stage two. It's all about therapy, so you might like it." "I'm not sure I get it." I hesitated a little bit. "It's pretty simple. I had this idea I've been working on ever since I took psychology in high school." Hannah shifted herself on the bed, practically leaning over me and smiling. "There's a guy in our psych class that agreed to help me with the project. Said he had...experience with this sort of thing. He was a dork, but pretty damn smart. You said you want to help me, right?" "Yeah, I told you I would. But you're making it sound super shady, you know?" I kinda squirmed on the bed underneath her, trying to lessen the pressure of her legs over mine. I'd heard college was a time for experimenting, but I wasn't really ready for that level of experimentation. "It's okay, all I need to do is monitor your response. Nothing dangerous, I promise." She smiled even wider. Such a strange grin, I thought to myself. Her teeth were white and perfect, flashing from behind her thin lips. She reached her hand up and touched her earring. They suddenly began flashing brightly from behind her hair, alternating in their pulses. There was something beautiful about them. Little globes of light pulsing in rhythm beneath her earlobes. I couldn't take my eyes off them, even though I saw her smile get even darker. "How do you feel?" She spoke softly, nearly whispering down to me. "I-I don't know." Something strange was spreading through me. "I feel kinda weird." "It's okay. You can relax, right?" "Right..." The earrings were so pretty. They just kept getting more and more amazing, bathing me in light and making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. "Relax. You can do it now, just keep looking at my earrings and drifting down. Deeper and deeper." "Deeper...and deeper..." I couldn't control my mouth. I just kept repeating back her words. "Relax and drift down." I could feel my eyes glazing over, my body going limp. The flashing was filling my mind. All I could see was her earrings. I was getting weaker and weaker by the second, dropping with her words. "So hypnotizing." She kept her thin smirk "Hyp...no...tiz..." That was it for me. My mind was gone. "Sleep," she commanded. Without hesitation I closed my eyes and felt myself melt away. All of the tension, all of my muscles, all of my body, washed away into nothing. Total bliss. A pleasant darkness replaced the world in my eyes and everything disappeared. She continued to relax me, gently massaging my shoulders and feeling my muscles give way to her soothing touch. This was not what I had expected, but it felt amazing. Had I been awake, I would have probably screamed. At the time, I was probably smiling like a dope.

Her fingers were so soothing, running along my hair. Just her touch was relaxing enough to take me even deeper. "I surrender." What the hell was I saying? But as I said it, the reality set in. I surrender. I obey. It feels wondrous. "I think it's about time you learned about Metal Viper, my lovely Zoie." Even deep in trance, I could feel her smirking over me.

Continuing on with the RHS fun! This probably won't be totally in the same vein as the original, but hopefully you'll enjoy it! Also, if you've read it and are now confused as to what happened to Andy, don't worry. He'll be back, but the narrator is now a new character. Maybe this will freshen up the narration a bit?

Your very much welcome. I'm currently wondering if this guy who gets mentioned is our old protagonist or someone else because, based on this, he seems a little evil. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
