MIDDLE SCHOOL

Friday Bulletin
Weekly Publication for Middle School Parents ISSUE # 10
WEEK OF OCTOBER 12 TO 16, 2009

From the Middle School Office

Dear Parent/s:

This year in the Middle School, we are continuing with the “arena style” conferences model. This may be a new experience for
those of you who are Grade five and six parents and those of you who are new parents.

Important Information and Facts about our format for Parent Conferences:

Monday, October 19 (Surnames A-K) Tuesday, October 20 (Surnames L-Z)

1:00 pm – 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM 1:00 PM – 3:30PM and 4:00PM to 6:00PM

For your convenience, the Middle School teachers will be seated at desks in the Little Theater (primarily Grades 5 & 6) and
Middle School Gymnasium (primarily Grades 7 & 8) starting at 1:00 PM.

At 3:30 PM, teachers will have an afternoon break for refreshments. (On both conference days, refreshments will be provided
for you, for the duration of the afternoon.) Conferences will then continue from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Please note that some
of our Middle School teachers are Part-Time and/or may also teach High School and Elementary School classes. When and
where these teachers are included on the information sent thru your child on Friday, October 9.

If your child is taking a Modern Language class in High School and wish to speak with his/her teacher, please call Ms. Sam
Ramos, in the HS Office at 840-8650, to set an appointment with the teacher for the Parent Teacher Conferences.

Please note that all conferencing is unscheduled. Each teacher will be available to discuss your child’s progress with you for
around ten minutes. Thank you in anticipation for doing your best in following this time suggestion.

If a teacher you wish to see is conferencing with another parent when you arrive, you may wish to:
• wait in the seating area near that teacher until the teacher becomes available
• leave that teacher and go to another teacher who is free
• leave that teacher and go to a teacher who has a shorter line, returning to the original teacher once that line has
shortened
• have a snack before proceeding to your next conference
You may come to the Parent Teacher Conferences at any time between 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Arriving after 5:45 PM may
severely limit the number of teachers with whom you will be able to conference. If you have two or more children in the Middle
School, please allow enough time to meet the teachers of each child.

Prior to attending the Parent Teacher Conferences, please take the opportunity to log on to PowerSchool to view your
child’s progress. A hard copy of your child’s grades to date as of Friday, October 16, will be provided upon arrival at the
PTCs. When you meet with Teachers, they will explain the details of your child’s overall grade.

In the event that you haven’t already logged on to PowerSchool, please call Ms. Grace Gabay in MS Guidance at 840-8555
or email msguidance@ismanila.org in order to obtain your password.

We look forward to seeing you and to sharing your child’s progress.

Sincerely,

Danielle Fredericks Clarissa Sayson

Many thanks to everyone who donated to the CCV diaper drive. This year we collected a

biodegradable. The diapers will be delivered to CCV and will supply the needs of the 80
children living there for up to 6 months. They will be most gratefully received. Thank you
MS for your great effort in this drive. Winning homebases of the non uniform day are:

rate heroic figures in Indian mythology who triumphed over the forces of evil. Diwali
is also a propitious time for new endeavors, and many people clean their homes
and open all their windows and doors to welcome luck and good fortune during Di-
wali

Thank you to the ISM Community

THANK YOU to the ISM Community of parents, students, teachers and staff for supporting our student-
led relief efforts for the victims of typhoon Ondoy: ISM Students raised a total of Php 406,936.35 ---
THANKS TO YOU!!

On Friday, October 2, ISM HS Students held an amazing concert to

benefit the victims of typhoon Ondoy. Clubs and Councils like PCC,
KCC, ACC, ECO, BTV, BTO rallied together to set-up booths and
food stations. Thank you to MCDonald’s, Andoks and Hungry Tykes
for providing food and ice-cream. Our very own PTA donated Php
60,000 to the cause.

“We went from complaining about school not being canceled, with
the desire to make a difference, to seeing these visions come to re-
ality. 400,000 pesos is a success, and then some! WE cannot thank
YOU enough. Words cannot express what an honor it is to call our-
selves BEARCATS right now.” - Antonio Villalon
