Only the following are classied as races: Elite Criterium Masters Criterium Womens Open Criterium Mens Open Criterium The Ultimate Foldies Challenge

The other rides are not competitive and not entitled to prizes: The Challenge (48km) The Kids Ride (5km) The Community Ride (24km) The Tricycle Ride (100m) The Foldies Community Ride (24km)

Participants are advised to arrive early. Unfortunately, latecomers will not be accepted after their rides have agged off. The Challenge (48km) participants are advised to have front and rear lights on their bicycle. Roads must be reopened on Sunday by 9.00am

Please bring along your identification card and a printed copy of the confirmation slip (which you will receive upon registration) to collect your Cycle Pack.

If someone is collecting on your behalf, they will be required to bring: Completed Authorisation Slip A copy of the Confirmation Slip Photocopy of the Identity Card, Passport or Driving License of the participant you are collecting on behalf of (No photo imaging of the above will be accepted) Please be informed that you will NOT be notified of your bib number on the Confirmation Slip. You will only receive your bib number upon collection at Dataran Merdeka. You are advised to collect your Cycle Pack during non-peak hours (2pm to 4pm & 8pm to 9pm) to avoid the crowd and long waiting times. For all Saturday events, your Cycle Pack(s) must be collected at least two hours before the respective flag offs. There will be no collection of Cycle Pack(s) allowed after 18 January 2014. All uncollected Cycle Pack(s) after 18 January 2014 will be deemed unwanted. The Organisers shall be at liberty to dispose or redistribute them accordingly. Please check for these items: Limited Edition Event Jersey or T-Shirt Bib with safety pins Bike ID Tag (with disposable timing chips if applicable) Helmet Stickers Entry pack instructions Bike frame number (only applies to Criterium category) Rental timing transponder with cable ties (only applies to Criterium category) If you encounter any issues, kindly approach the staff at the counter. Once you leave the collection room, you will not be allowed to request for an exchange or a top-up of missing items. The exchanging of cycle packs and/or jersey or T-shirt is strictly not allowed.

2.1 EVENT BIB

2.2 HELMET STICKER

Your event bib number will be included in the Cycle Pack. Bib must be worn on the back of your shirt/jersey throughout the event. Anyone without an event bib will not be allowed in the Start Zone.

Please attach the three helmet stickers on the front and both sides your helmet.

2.3 HOW TO SECURE YOUR BIKE TAG


You are responsible for the attachment of the Bike Tag. Check that your BIB Number on the Bike Tag is correct. Your Bike Tag contains a timing device. Please do not fold or attempt to remove your timing device. If you fold or crease the tag, you may break the circuit and no time will be recorded The tag should be positioned on your handle bar and secured firmly with cable-ties. If you have a spare puncture kit bag, lights, or other items off the back of your seat post, consider moving them to ensure the timing sticker is able to be read by the system. Do not trim Bike Tage; you must attach the Tag in full on your bike. Only participants riding in The Ultimate Foldies Challenge, The Challenge (48km), and The Corporate Charity Challenge (48km) are provided with a Bike Timing Tag.

Divided into two separate starts, per age group (5-7 yrs & 8-9 yrs). Only children may assemble at the start line. Parents who are accompanying their kids will kindly assemble behind all the children. Those riding with child seats will be assembled at the rear.

THE KIDS RIDE


5km | Age 5-9

Kids from 10-12 years should gather in one pen. All kids will cycle for 30 minutes and will end their ride promptly at the finish line.

THE JUNIOR CHALLENGE

THE ULTIMATE FOLDIES CHALLENGE


20min | Age 13+

A series of 20-minute heats will be held before the fastest Foldies (up to 60 men, 10 women) battle it out in a thrilling Ultimate Foldies Challenge Finale over highest number of laps within 30 minutes. Top three male and female finishers will be crowned OCBC Cycle Malaysia 2014 UFC Champion.

A VIP judging panel will also be awarding prizes for the best dressed.

All participants will line up together, but will be sent off in batches of a few hundred at a time. Participants riding with child seats will be assembled at the rear.

For the safety of the participants, riders will be flagged off in waves to ensure that riders of similar speed and ability are riding together.

Timing stickers will record both start and finish times.

Riders arriving at their respective pen entrance late will be flagged off with the last pen.

The Criteriums will offer top amateur cyclists the chance to pit their skills against one another along a challenging 1.3km route.

2.6 EVENT DAY PARTICIPANT ASSISTANCE


If you require assistance while on the route, you can either use your mobile phone to contact the Participant Emergency Number (+603 7724 0707) OR you may advise a route marshal, CISCO police officer or event staff member, who will then call for assistance. Please save the Participant Emergency Number in your mobile phone prior to the event. This number is only available on event day. In the event that you are unable to continue with your ride, please approach our race officials. You may board the broom bus after the last rider passes the area.

PLEASE NOTE
Slow riders who fail to meet projected timings will be diverted, re-routed to a shorter route, or stopped; this is for the safety of all riders and to meet stipulated public road re-opening times.

On Event Day, whether you are driving, cycling or walking, the easiest way to access the venue will be via:

Driving

To avoid traffic congestion, you are advised to arrive early and use public transport, leave your car at home or car pool. We suggest parking at the following locations: (1) Padang Merbok (2) Daya Bumi Complex (3) Jalan Tanglin (4) Bukit Aman (5) Jalan Kebun Bunga (Lake Garden)

CYCLING

If you are cycling to the event venue, cycle with care and follow traffic rules. Please do not cycle on the course. Road closures will be announced at a later date.

4.1 BIKE PARK

Take advantage of the overnight bike storage! Come down to the Bike Park at the Dataran Merdeka with your bicycle on Saturday, 18 January, from 10am to 9pm and you can leave your bike overnight at NO COST. You may collect your bike on Sunday, 19 January from 3.30am onwards. Once you have completed your event, you can also store your bike until 1pm, 19 January.

If storing your bicycle, please note the following:


When rst checking-in your bike at the Bike Park, you will receive a Bike & Wrist Tag. You will be required to present your Wrist Tag in order to enter the Bike Park to collect your bike on Sunday, 19 January. Before exiting the Bike Park, security personnel will check that the number on your Bike Tag corresponds to your Wrist Tag. While the area is fenced and there will be security, please note that bikes are parked at your own risk, and you may wish to bring your own bike lock. No bike collections will be allowed without your Wrist Tag; we recommend that you wear the Wrist Tag once you receive it. You are advised to remove all loose accessories such as your helmet, lights, pump, drink bottle etc. when checking in your bike. The event organiser will not be held responsible for any lost items. Cycling in the Bike Park is not allowed. Bike storage is offered free of charge and on a rst come, rst served basis.

4.2 BAGGAGE STORAGE


Due to safety reasons, baggage service is not available for OCBC Cycle Malaysia 2014. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

4.3 LOST PROPERTY


Please report any lost property to the Information Booth located on site. Conversely, you may return any lost-andfound items to the Information Booth.

5.2 WARNING SIGNS


Look out for warning signs there will be signs on the course indicating narrowing of the road, speed humps and sharp turns. Please slow down when you identify these signs.

SERVICE YOUR BIKE


Remember to check your wheels making sure the quick-release skewers are tightened correctly and tyres for signs of wear and tear It is recommended that a spare inner tube is carried by each participant

BRAKES & GEARS


Check brake functionality and ensure gears are tuned Aerobars are designed for time trials and triathlon events and therefore shall not be permitted.

MUST-HAVE
The Super Challenge & The Challenge riders are advised to have front and rear lights No helmet, No Ride!

GO!

BE ALERT
Keep left! Right side for overtaking only Keep a safe distance to allow yourself to respond to unexpected situtation For newer cyclists, try to maintain at least 2 to 3 metres of space Look out for each other - Indicate and allow other cyclist to know what you intend to do or what to take note of Use your right hand to signal that you are intending to overtake and point to other cyclists riding behind you Do not overlap wheels - ensure that your wheel is not in close proximity with the rear wheel of the front rider

BE AWARE
Be aware of cyclists around you - look a few bike lengths ahead and be aware of other riders around you Do not stop in the middle of the road as it is hazardous to yourself and others behind

LISTEN TO MARSHALS
Marshals with whistles and flags will be positioned along the course commands and slow down at the sound of their whistles or waving of flags

U-TURNS
There are a number of U-Turns on the course These will be marked with signage and marshals with whistles and flags will warn you to slow down Please cooperate with them

COURSE VEHICLES
Riders will be escorted by CISCO motorcycles as well as lead and rear vehicles Any riders deemed unable to continue by race officials will be asked to board the broom vehicle. In addition, there will be an ambulance on the course

INCLEMENT WEATHER
In the event of inclement weather, the event organiser reserves the right to delay the commencement of rides Should bad weather persist, the event organiser reserves the right to cancel the race without any refund

5.4 WARM UP & HYDRATION

It is important to do proper warm ups and remain hydrated throughout the event you should aim to drink one litre of water per hour. You should also carry a drink bottle on your bike and try to practice drinking while you ride, prior to the event.

5.5 HEALTH & FITNESS


It is the responsibility of every participant to ensure that they are fit and healthy enough to complete the ride. If you are in doubt, please consult your doctor beforehand.

5.6 LIABILITY
Riders participating in OCBC Cycle Malaysia do so at their own risk and without liability whatsoever on the part of the Organisers, Officials or Sponsors.

6.2 CARNIVAL
Before or after your ride, join the Carnival at Dataran Merdeka for some great entertainment - there will be something for everyone so bring your family and friends!

7.1 FINISH LINE/ATHLETE WELFARE


Once you have crossed the finish line, please keep moving towards the Riders Recovery where you will receive your OCBC Cycle Malaysia medal and refreshments.

7.2 RESULTS
Full results (only applicable for participants with timing sticker) will be available on the event website OCBC.cyclemalaysia.com.my three days after the event.

7.3 PRIZE PRESENTATION | SAT, 18 JAN


There will only be prize presentations for the Criteriums and The Ultimate Foldies Challenge winners. Prizes will be presented immediately upon completion of the race. If you are a placegetter, please make your way to the main stage as soon as possible.
