At the end of this course, you should be able to demonstrate the practical skills and the understanding of knowledge on chemical engineering unit operations focusing on Fluid Flow, Transport Processes and Process Heat Transfer.
3. Laboratory Delivery Lab Session:
a)
b) c) d) e) f)
You will be divided into groups of 4 to 5 students. You will carry out experiment sessions and group projects in the semester. Lab will be done as per schedule (Refer to the schedule for details). In case of lab falls on the public holiday, lab will be replaced on similar day in the afternoon session in some other week. In case of equipment breakdown, experiments will be replaced with another experiment. However, cases below will apply: If equipment breakdown is more than half of the experiment requirement, the student must proceed with the available results. If equipment breakdown less than half of the experiment requirement, the experiment must be replaced with other available experiment/equipment.

Attendance You must attend all lab sessions. In case of absentees due to illness, a valid Medical Certificate must be submitted to the Lab Coordinator. In the case of other commitment (student activities, family matters, etc) an authorization letter from the relevant personnel/family member is required. In case of emergency or any unavoidable circumstances that you cannot attend the lab session, you are required to inform the Lab Coordinator prior to the event. This needs to be supported by a letter.
e)
Your lab session WOULD NOT BE REPLACED due to absenteeism. However, you will still be graded for the lab report, ONLY when a supporting document is given to the Lab Coordinator. You must also attend the Viva Voce session at the convenience of the Lab Instructor.
f)
Without any supporting document due to absenteeism, you will not be getting any marks for the lab assessment.
12. a) b)
Attire Properly attired. Wearing your lab coat is a MUST. Other personal protective equipment (PPE, such as goggles, safety helmet, ear plugs, ear muff, etc) will be provided. These clothing are not allowed in the laboratory: national costumes (baju kurung, cheongsam saree, etc), jubah, skirts (short or long), sarongs, shorts, sandal, slippers and uncovered shoes) while conducting experimental work. You ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PROCEED with your laboratory work if you fail to do that.
c) d)
For those who are wearing tudung or hijab, and with long hair, you are required to keep them neat. Besides the lab instructor, the technical assistants have the authority to ask you to leave the lab if you do not adhere to the above regulations.
13. a) b) c)
Safety in Laboratory Please abide to all safety rules and regulations in the laboratory. Please be aware on the laboratory safety signs indicated in the lab. You must fill the Job Safety Assessment Form (JSA) BEFORE conducting the experiment. The JSAF must be approved by the respective personnel and submitted with the lab report.
