Beauty of Nature Photography Contest Rules & Regulations

SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES Each participant is eligible to submit up to 3 photographs that covers the beauty in nature conservation of Singapore. Each photo will have to be accompanied by a 50-100 word rationale behind the photo taken. Essay entries must incorporate a call to action message (ie. Conservation, Preservation) and the relevance of the photo taken to nature conservation in Singapore. Image Specifications: File Format: JPEG

Size for Submission: 1) Soft Copy - High resolution image (Between 2 to 5 MB) 2) Hard Copy A3 Portrait or Landscape format. Photo will have to be mounted on a black colour cardboard with 3 inch border on all 4 sides. 1.2 The photographs submitted for the competition must be in high resolution digital image files (suitable for enlargement to 400mm x 500mm) and stored in a CD or DVD. We would require submission of both soft and hard copies as mentioned above. Digital manipulation that distorts the reality of the photos will not be allowed. Only basic enhancements such as sharpening, contrast adjustment, or simple cropping will be allowed. The entries can be submitted by post or by hand, in a sealed envelope with the duly completed forms to: Beauty of Nature Photography Contest c/o Hougang Mall Management Office 90 Hougang Avenue 10 #05-21 Hougang Mall Singapore 538 766 The submission deadline is 10 March 2014, before 6.00pm. 1.5 All submitted materials (i.e. CD, DVD etc) are non -returnable. The file name for each photograph must be clearly labelled with the entry category, participants name, and where the photograph wa s taken. Name each jpg file according to the following template: Category_Name of School and Participant_Location.jpg

Please store the digital images of each students entry into one folder for easy identification. For instance, if there are 3 students participating in the contest, there should be 3 different folders. We would also require the students full particulars - their full name and class, as well as the club which they are representing. Kindly also include in your contact details (email and direct line) for us to contact if your students entries are shortlis ted. 1.7 Participants are entirely responsible for all entry -related costs, such as postage and other related costs.

2.1 Prizes are non-transferrable and non-exchangeable for cash or in kind. 2.2 The Organisers reserve the right to modify the competition prizes and its rules and regulations as and when necessary, without prior notice. 3 COPYRIGHT/INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY 3.1 Entries must be the original and unpublished work of the participant and copyright owner. 3.2 The Organisers reserve the right to reproduce any entry in print, broadcast and/or electronic media without requiring the permission of the participant and without any fee payment. However the photographer will be acknowledged.

4 JUDGING AND RESULTS 4.1 The images shall be selected by a panel of judges and their decision is final. No correspondence pertaining to the selection process and decision will be entertained. 4.2 The panel of judges will evaluate the entries based on the following criteria: Artistic/visual appeal Extent to which the photograph captures the essence of nature. Extent to which the essay explains the relevance of the photo taken to conserving the natural environment of Singapore.

4.3 Entries will be judged based on originality, creativity and relevance to the subject of environmental conservation of Singapore. 4.4 The judging panel reserves the right not to award the prizes if the photographs submitted do not meet the requirements stated in this document. 4.5 Based on these criteria, 20 photos for each category will be shortlisted and evaluated by the Judging Panel. Shortlisted candidates will be notified accordingly. Please note that all shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend the Awards ceremony. Winners will then be announced on Sunday 16 March 2014 at the Hougang Mall Main Atrium at Level 1.

5 ACCEPTANCE OF RULES AND REGULATIONS 5.1 Submission of entries signifies acceptance of the rules and regulations of the competition. 5.2 While the Organisers will exercise due care during the collection, selection and storage of images, it shall not be held liable for any loss, theft or destruction of the images.
