An Intro to Titanic

RESEARCH ACTIVITY
Before we watch a film, we often encounter it before we decide to view it at the cinema. We usually have some understanding or expectation of a film through word of mouth experiences, populist and critical reviews, premiers, trailers, websites and other offline and online marketing tools. What we learn about a film and the expectations we subsequently generate, will often influence our decision to part with money to view the film and our personal, emotional response to the film as a spectator. Therefore, before we screen Titanic and analysing the film in detail, we are going to contextualise our screening of the film with some research into the macro elements of the film. TASK: 1. Working in small groups or pairs, you will be assigned a macro focus from the list at the bottom of the page. 2. Using the Internet, find out as much as you can about the film in relation to your focus. You must find out a minimum of 4 different aspects of the film that help you have some understanding of the film. 3. You will then create ONE power point slide with the following: o The title of your macro focus o 4 or 5 key points that you feel are most relevant from your findings o At least 1 image 4. You will hand in your worksheet and email your slide to your teacher who will create a macro review document and post it to the blog as a revision aid.
