Overview of project This project aims to develop your understanding of lm pre-production and production methods. Throughout this project you will be required to; explore the pre-production requirements for a lm; analyse and interpret the meanings created by media language techniques; develop an understanding of genre codes and conventions and explore narrative structures and theory. This knowledge will be key in the development of your own production work in which you will create an idea for a new lm; undertake a variety of pre-production planning tasks; and produce a nal moving image piece.!

Production Task: You are required to produce a short moving image sequence. The scene can be from any part of the lm but it must be engaging and create tension (3-5mins). Scenario Sundance Institute is a nonprot organisation dedicated to the discovery and development of independent artists and audiences. Through its programs, the Institute seeks to discover, support, and inspire independent lm and theatre artists from the United States and around the world, and to introduce audiences to their new work. Obafam studios are looking to develop new talent and enter a lm into the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of lm language, pre-production and planning processes and lm-making skills. Inspiration for your project The lm industry is one of the most popular forms of contemporary media with many new lms being released on a weekly basis. Scenario# Obafam Studios feel that it is essential that you demonstrate your knowledge of the key concepts; genre, narrative, representation, audience and media language before you produce your lm. You should begin by exploring existing lm texts, analysing how media language has been used to create meaning and how codes and conventions have been deployed. 1. What is a single camera production? Create an information leaet that explains the di$erences between single and multi camera productions. You should use real examples and images in your work.# 2. Produce a media language leaet, ebook or presentation that deconstructs and explains the 4 key areas; mise-en-scne, cinematography, editing and sound.
