founueu in 1999, is a multifaceteu stuuent oiganization that is intenueu to expiess
the cultuie anu lifestyle of its constituents. Recognizing that impiovements can be

I can't be the only one who thinks a name like the Association of Stuuents of
Afiican 0iigin isn't the most inclusive. Foi the longest time, ASA0 has been seen as
the campus "black people gioup". Its no seciet that many people on campus uon't
quite know what its all about, anu can easily assume that its not the gioup foi them.
The aveiage numbei of attenuees last yeai was stumpeu at SS. Though it was goou
to see familiai faces, the executive boaiu of the gioup staiteu planning on ways to
get moie people involveu.
This yeai, the attenuance aveiages at Su to 6u membeis each meeting, with
an iionic auuition to the gioup: uiveisity. With the new auu-on "All Stuuents, All
0iigins", anu help fiom
open minueu stuuents,
ASA0 has caught it's
seconu winu. "We have
been exciteu anu giateful
about oui new membeis"

on Septembei 24th was a gieat tuin out, many left with some gieat piizes. The fiist
meeting aftei Columbus Bay was conjoineu with fellow cultuial gioup LASA anu
piofessoi Chiistoph Stiobel to holu a compelling uiscussion about Columbus anu his
uisputable impact on Ameiica. Co-hosting CAPA's Balloween paity is something
both gioups aie looking foiwaiu to. Collaboiating with othei stuuent gioups has
only aiueu the piocess.
