General Information: Name: Alfredo Alexander Coreas Barahona Career: Mayor in English Subject: Management of Technological Resources for the Teaching and Administration of the English Language (Part IV) Title of the activity: Teaching Perspective Inventory Year: February 25th, 2014 2. Introduction The purpose of Teaching Perspectives Inventory (TPI) is to identify my teaching perspectives and understand my beliefs about teaching philosophy, also help to interpret and understand my profile or way to teach in any class also my relationship as a teacher with my students or learners; The TPI is a test of 45 items that evaluate my orientation in teaching, it has five perspectives which are transmission, apprenticeship, developmental, nurturing and social reform. The importance of knowing my personal teaching perspective is that I notice how I am teaching a class, if I have lack of one perspective or abundance in another perspective. Know the results of my TPI test will reflex my orientation in teaching. 3. The TPI result and the description of your teaching perspective My TPI results, I took TPI test once because a fell satisfied with my results, first TPI format asked me personal information such my first name, surname, my email, if I am associated with the list of teaching groups that they have. Also the TPI sheet asked me about the kind of students that I am teaching and I chose the specific learners "I'm focusing on are Elementary", TPI profile asked me what am I teaching? (Subject) specifically it asked "The specific content that I teach them is" and I type in the blank English". Also TPI sheet asked me "The teaching setting where we generally meet is" 2 choices Face-to-Face or Online/Correspondence and I chose class "Face-to-Face" because I do not have still the pleasure to have manage an on line curse, and the last question of the first page was "What size group?" and I chose 10-19 students. When I started to read each of the items I notice and understand that the TPI test was leading to measure my teaching perspectives towards my students, regarding to do not measure my knowledge about a specifically subject matter but my perspectives to teach and manage a class and also TPI test will reflects me if I

quite involve with my students. As an example the item 7 said "The best learning comes from working alongside good practitioners and the possible answer s were SD= Strongly Disagree, D= Disagree, N=Neutral, A=Agree, SA=Strongly Agree, I though instantly that the answer in my context and setting with my students could it be strongly agree because I work together my students and many aspects of my classes, since there I thought that each item could it be base in what a teachers think and how each item lead us to interpret our opinion if it correct or incorrect in our the classrooms. I received my TPI result instantly through e-mail: Transmission 30, Apprenticeship 42, Developmental 34, Nurturing 35, Social Reform 34, Beliefs total 52, Intentions 65, Action 58. My total score was 175, Also in the e-mail there is a link that take me to a graph which showed me the result plotted, this graph show me that Apprenticeship perspective was the highest bar with 42 of score and almost reach the 45, in comparison with the lowest bar my transmission perspective with 30 of score. You can access a graphical display of your results here: http://www.teachingperspectives.com/drupal/es/tpi/tpiresults?nodeid=33537&name=Alfredo. 4. Conclusion: As a conclusion to take the TPI test about the perspectives is very useful because I can understand my way of teaching and the items tell me many enunciates that relate my teaching job with the setting in my classroom. I am not sure if my score is low or high because the test reflects measure my 5 perspectives in teaching not my general knowledge but personally I think was low also because I took it once. The obtained information is helpful to put into practice in my classroom, I learned about beliefs that I must to support my students and help them in their learning, also about my intentions in the classrooms it means what I am intent in my classroom and the actions that a class we start to do. I agree with the result because it showed me my lacks and strengths. According to TPI administrators I can use the information of my grade or my score of the TPI to apply to a better job, but my teaching perspective is useful to show me how to teach a class, I am not only teach a class with my unknown perspective because now I understand that my perspective strength is transmission. My students will have my support always they need because a I learned that I have to learn next to them.
