Introduction to Organizational Behavior Micro (68110043) Dr.

. Uriel Haran Fall 2013-2014 Number of weekly academic hours: 3 Prerequisite courses: None. Course summary and learning objectives: This course examines the factors that influence the individual and the individuals environment in the organization. Special focus is given to the mutual influences intrinsic and extrinsic factors have on each other, and their implications for human behavior, interpersonal relations and organizational outcomes. Course objectives: 1. The students will know the key topics, the central theories and the popular research methods in organizational behavior at the micro level of analysis. 2. The students will analyze and understand individual processes and their influence on the behavior in and of the organization. 3. The students will develop critical thinking and an ability to apply theoretical concepts in management. 4. The students will become familiar with the basic principles of academic reading and writing. Course requirements and how the final grade is calculated: A final exam, which includes multiple-choice questions, is worth 55% of the final grade. A final paper, 5-7 pages long, is worth 35% of the grade. The paper consists of a case analysis using one theory or two specific theoretical concepts to analyze a real-word event or a literary or pop-culture scene. A midterm assignment, 2 pages long, is worth 10% of the grade. The assignment is an exercise in efficient academic reading and building a reference section. It consists of a response paper to a research article from a provided list of articles, as well as a reference section of the target article and two related sources which cite the target article.
