Course Outline
Prerequisites Participants of this course must be employed in the RailCorp Emergency Train Recovery Unit and have training in previous RailCorp Train Set types.
Target audience
This course is designed for personnel of the RailCorp Emergency Train Recovery Unit who may be directly involved with the recovery of Waratah (A-Set) Trains.
Nominal duration
Purpose
The purpose of this course is to enable RailCorp Emergency Recovery Unit Personnel to work safely around and perform recovery operations of Waratah (A-Set) Trains.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, participants will have learned how to: Work Safely on and around Waratah Trains Explain Waratah recovery requirements
Assessment strategy
To enable a manageable assessment strategy, a formative assessment will be aimed at the training topics. Learning Outcomes within the Training Environment will be deemed to be achieved after the successful completion of Course Assessment. The type of assessment will be an oral assessment in which participants will be asked to locate equipment and demonstrate or explain procedures. The oral assessment will be conducted and the end of the last session and will be a consolidated assessment of all Learning Outcomes.

Purpose of Assessment
Explain the reason for assessment in RailCorp. The goal of this course was to help you gain the learning outcomes listed at the beginning. These assessment questions help us to make sure that you are progressing towards that goal; that all of you have been able to develop these skills and to identify if there is a need for further training.
Assessment Procedure
Explain that participants are required to achieve a minimum of 80% (16 Marks 13 to pass) pass mark to be deemed Competent in assessment. Explain that if a participant receives a not yet competent result, there are various options: Re-training and re-assessment Re-assessment Discussing with the participant how and when further evidence could be provided to meet competence

Give a brief overview of what is involved in the assessment. The assessment has 2 sections. The first section you will be asked to locate/identify train equipment and/or systems The second section you will be asked to locate/identify train equipment and/or systems pertaining to recovery. In each section, as well as locating equipment, you may be asked to describe its use or operation.
The questions all refer to information you have been taught in this course. Instructions
You will be individually assessed and on completion of the assessment be told if you are competent or not yet competent. After given the result, youll be debriefed on any errors or omissions during the assessment. It will take about 10 minutes to complete this assessment section of the course.
The Assessment
Take one participant at a time over train. Ask to locate/describe items as per assessment sheet.
Your training and assessment records will be recorded in the Ellipse System. It is your responsibility to record them in your Assessment Record Book (if applicable) and obtain a signoff from your trainer.

This is so that RailCorp can make sure that our courses are meeting your needs as employees and helping you achieve your goals. I'll hand out a copy to each of you now. Take as much time as you need to complete it and please return it to me before you leave.
If applicable, explain how Participant Certificates or Statements are awarded and what they mean. If applicable, for 1 day courses, sign and hand out Statements of Attendance (see Administration section below for more information). Remind participants they must retain a copy of any Certificate or Statement they receive as evidence of this course.
