Iftheapplicationdirectionsdontspecifywhattheemployerislookingfor,herearesomegeneral guidelinestofollow: Agoodwritingsampleis: 35pageslong o Ifyourbestwrittenpieceisalargerpaper,extractseveralpagesfromitandexplain thecontexttothereader. Accessibletothereader: o Avoidsubmittingsamplesthatrequirethereadertohavespecialknowledgeofthe topic(e.g.Jargonandacronymsusedinapolicybriefmightnotbecomprehendible toreadersinprivatesectorconsulting) Recent: o Yourwritingstyleevolvesandwritingabilityimprovesasyouadvancethrough graduateschool.Themorerecentthework,themoreaccurateimpressionofyour writingskills.
