Writing a Monologue in Role Based on one of the selected images, you will be writing and performing a 1 minute monologue.

Both images can be found on the website (msjtoal.weebly.com) and will be used during class time. It is very important that you are in class in order to participate in learning about monologues and using acting techniques to explore writing. Ms. Toal is looking for: Writing Mark A solid, wellrounded character who has depth The character is different from you: is from a different location, has a different background, has different opinions, has different likes/dislikes from you The character expresses their thoughts and points of view clearly (they are believable and make sense) The character comments on other characters role in their lives (What is their relationship with their parents like? Their kids? Their husband/wife? Their friends?) Includes details about the characters life that believable and make sense with the character they are portraying Free of spelling/grammar errors (Get someone to proofread before you hand in!!) Performance Mark Monologue is memorized and no script is onstage Confident and understandable pace, tone, and volume Thought has gone into how the character speaks, how the character moves, and how the characters emotions are shown (facial expressions, body) and it is DIFFERENT from you as a person. Monologue is 1 minute in length Monologue begins and ends in a tableaux
