Find, i) Frequency ii) Rms value iii) Average value iv) The instantaneous value of the voltage at t= 3ms v) Time taken for the voltage to reach 100V for the first time after passing through zero value. v) Form factor vi) Peak factor. Determine the total current drawn from the supply. Ans. I=54.87sin(t-0.029) A 100V, 80W lamp is to operate on 230V, 50Hz ac. Calculate the inductance to be connected in series with lamp. Lamp is taken as pure resistance. Ans. Explain why different voltage required for same power consumption. Calculate inductance of the coil and phase angle between voltage and current. Ans. L=0.0255H, =53.13. An iron choke coil takes 4A when connected to a 20V dc supply and takes 5A from 65V, 50Hz ac supply. Determine (i) the resistance and inductance of coil. (ii) The power drawn by the coil. (iii) Power factor Ans. (i) R=5, L=38.2mH, (ii)P=125W, (iii)PF=0.3846(lagging). Two impedances Z1=10+j5 and Z2= 8+j6 are connected in parallel across a voltage of V= (200+j0) V. Calculate circuit current, power factor and reactive power. Ans.
