Workshop Title: Digital Communication Purpose: The purpose the workshop is for teachers to be able to communicate with students and parents in a variety of ways using technology. Objectives: Students will: 1) Access three free online forms of digital communication. 2) Compare uses of edmodo, remind101, and twitter. 3) Analyze which web2.0 tool is most useful for each type of digital communication

Retrieved from: http://www.iste.org/docs/pdfs/nets-t-standards.pdf Activities: Participants will actively participate in an open discussion about what sources of technology they currently use to communicate with parents and students. The participants will then be introduced to three free web 2.0 tools they can use to for classroom communication. They will set up an account with each web 2.0 tool and send out a demo message to the instructor to assess how well they are able to use the program. Participants will then complete a 5 question satisfaction survey to complete the workshop. Assignments: Participants will be expected to create an account with edmodo, remind101, and twitter and send out an appropriate test message to the instructor. Assessment: Each participant will individually submit an appropriate message from each of the three communication tools presented in the workshop to the instructor. Upon satisfactory completion of all three submissions and evidence of use in their classroom at least 10 times, participants will receive credit for one professional learning unit. Evaluation: Upon completion of the workshop, the participants will complete a satisfaction survey online to provide feeback regarding the workshop's effectiveness. Interaction Expectation: Participants are expected to be online and create an edmodo, remind101, and twitter account. They are expected to follow instructor lesson and send an appropriate message from each of the online accounts. The instructor is expected to answer all online questions, comments, and concerns within a 24 hour time span. During live workshop sessions all participants are expected to log on to the workshop and attend the entire session in one sitting. The instructor and participants are expected to communicate in a professional manner at all times. Any individual questions that are not for the good of the group should be emailed to the instructor on an individual basis. Resources and Guidance:

Scholastic Dishonesty: Academic dishonesty or academic misconduct is any type of cheating that occurs in relation to a formal academic exercise. No credit will be given for any assignment that the instructor deems scholastic dishonesty has taken place. If the instructor sees the problem as persistent the department head will be contacted and the participant may be removed from the workshop.
