What Is Vulva Cancer


Vulva cancer comes in various forms, the most popular of which being squamous cell carcinoma. This happens in 9 out of 10 diagnoses and occurs from vulval cells slowly changing over time to become cancerous. Every year around 1,200 women are diagnosed with some form of vulva cancer. It is more commonly found in women over the age of 65, although roughly 15% comes from women under 50. Risk factors for vulva cancer include: age, skin problems around the vulva like lichen sclerosus or lichen planus, smoking, Pagets disease and Vulval intraepithelial neoplasa.
