Praying before the Championship game of the ICSB Basketball tournament

Basketball, Spring, and a Farsang

Winter came, ever so briefly, but then left, ever so quickly. To welcome in spring, Hungarians participate in a festival called Farsang. People gather together to watch or participate in a dance. Last week, I went to a watch my Hungarian friend perform in her Farsang dance. She told me that the point of this dance is to scare off winter and welcome in spring. Id say Hungarians did that quite well because we only got about an inch of snow all winter (Chicago friends, dont hate me! To compensate for the crazy winter youve had in the Midwest, how about you all come to visit me?!) ! The ISCB girls basketball team finished out the basketball season by being crowned Conference Champs! As one of the coaches, I was able to watch the girls play exciting games that

kept us on our toes. Our final record was 15-1. The school hosted the annual ICSB basketball tournament at the beginning of February with teams from Russia, Romania, and the Ukraine. The ICSB girls and boys team finished in first place! Our school was able to live stream the tournament for the first time which made it possible for friends and family back home to watch it. It was great knowing that they were able to see me in action! As the community enjoyed being together for that tournament, we also spent the weekend grieving the death of a high school student, Stephen Powers. This was a huge shock to the school, community, and church. Please be in prayer for the Powers family, our students, and the community. Pray that this tragedy would bring our community closer to one other and closer to Jesus. Its shocking to think that in three months, Ill be packing bags to move back to Chicago. It seems like just yesterday I was starting out on this adventure. I have learned so much about myself, about Jesus, and about the passions and gifts he has given me. As I think about what comes next, I am praying that an overseas ministry opportunity working with high school students would be a possibility. Please join me in praying for clarity and wisdom in knowing what to pursue. Thank you all for sticking with me and being my partners on this adventure to serve Christ in the great nation of Hungary!
