Job Title: Summer Camp Assistant, June-August only Part-time (20 hours/week), temporary

Montalvo Arts Center is seeking an organized, detail-oriented administrative assistant to support our dynamic summer camp program. The Assistant will support the program with a variety of tasks, from processing camp registration information to handling program communication and more. The Assistant will help to create an environment that emphasizes fun and learning in a uniquely natural and creative environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Administrative support for summer day camps, including creating rosters, sign-in/-out sheets, camper nametags, and related tasks. Organize and facilitate camp t-shirt distribution each week. Prepare and send camp related communications to staff and participating families. Serve as substitute for camp leaders as needed in the supervision of camp program participants, ages 6-18 years. Work and communicate directly with parents in a supportive nature. Other duties as assigned by Education Programs staff. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications: High School Diploma; some college preferred. Previous experience in recreation program administrative support highly desirable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Attentive to detail and accurate; Ability to prioritize tasks and meet specific deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel. Passion for the arts and working with youth of varying ages. Ability to work as part of a team, under direct or indirect supervision. Position expected to begin in late May. Must be available June 2-August 16, Monday-Friday, and some evenings. CPR/First Aid certification required prior to May 30, 2014. Working Conditions & Physical Tasks: Most job functions performed outdoors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Valid drivers license and access to own vehicle required. Background check and DOJ LiveScan fingerprint clearance required. Compensation: $13/hr. These positions are not eligible for employee benefits.
