Leadership development takes place through various programs at the LDA, directly through hand-picked faculty and through

tie-ups with reputed Indian and international universities. Some of the programs delivered through the LDA are:

Management Education Program (MEP), an 18-week program spread over 24 months, which is the Step 1 in the 5 Step Leadership Development Program being conducted by IIM Ahmedabad . The Forums for Step 2 Leadership Development Program are conducted by reputed faculty from Ross School of Business, University of Michigan; IIM Ahmedabad; IIM Bangalore and hand-picked Indian and Leadership development takes place through various programs at the LDA, directly through hand-picked faculty and through tie-ups with reputed Indian and international universities. 3. The Global Leadership Program is conducted by Ross School of Business, University of Michigan at the LDA by: a. Prof. Wayne Brockbank, Clinical Professor of Business & Director of the Centre for Strategic HR Leadership who is a global authority in Leadership and HR; b. Prof. Gautam Ahuja, Harvey C. Fruehauf Professor of Business Administration, Professor of Strategy, Chair of Strategy and in 2011 BusinessWeek magazine ranked him #2 on the list of Most Popular Professors in the United States. c. Prof. M.P. Narayanan, Robert Morrison Hoffer Professor of Business Administration; Professor of Finance, who worked very closely with the legendry Dr. C.K. Prahlad. 4.Transforming L&T into a Global Corporation by IIM Ahmedabad. 5. L&Ts Global CEO Program conducted by Harvard Business School Professors, Prof. Das Narayandas, James J. Hill Professor of Business Administration, Senior Associate Dean, Director of HBS Publishing. 6. Executive HRM program with XLRI, Jamshedpur.
7. Core Development Programs with IIM Calcutta, IIM Bangalore, XLRI Jamshedpur, Symbiosis Institute of Business Management and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies. 8. The LDA has been recognized by Symbiosis International University as a resource center which would enable L&T-ites to pursue their Ph.D. Programs have been planned with National Law School of India University and National Institute of Construction Management and Research.

Professors from Ross School of Business, University of Michigan and from Harvard Business School, who have taught in some of the best Universities in the world have said that the facilities at the LDA are as good, if not better than the best available in the world.

The Aesthetics of Learning The LDA has a grace and charm that speaks of thoughtful and tasteful design. It does not stun you with its beauty. Rather it has the air of a retreat that welcomes you into its fold. So serene is the atmosphere that you wish you could take a rest cure on the premises. But we are L&T-ites we all have a task to accomplish, and rest will never be part of our lexicon! The LDAs design and construction was undertaken by L&T Constructions team. The buildings at the LDA are certified Green Buildings to conserve energy. Various energy saving devices have been installed like solar lighting and heating systems. The imposing gateway was designed to project L&Ts world-class engineering and construction image. An elliptical archway, extending into the limits of space and merging with vertical and horizontal planes, projects the multidimensional facets of L&T. The foyers and galleries display the paintings and works of the noted artist, Mr. Mohan Kumar, one of UNESCOs 40 chosen artists of the world. An Enabling Environment Learning takes place any time and all the

time. It can happen during the dialectic of a classroom, in the private intensity of a library, or in the quiet repose of a recreation room. So this integrated facility provides it all the tool for analysis, the platform to interact across geographiesand the portal to discovery. Facilities There are two Learning Centres at theLDA. Learning Centres 1 & 2. Learning Centre 1 has six learninhalls and one hall specially designed tconduct assessments, a computer lawith 8 computers, 6 syndicate rooms withminimum capacity 30 and maximum, 45 Learning Centre 2 has four learninhalls, a computer lab with 24 computers,22 syndicate rooms, and an auditorium to seat 300 participants. The auditorium has a dorma partition. If closed it can act as two learning halls to accommodate 90 persons on each side. All the halls havgood acoustics.

The tele-presence facility belongsto a boundary-less university whichovercomes the limitations of geography. Itharnesses the full strength, and splendourof technology to serve the cause oflearning. Incorporating state-of-the-art IT systems, it can help students attend a class conducted by professors and expertsacross the globe. It allows simultaneous lectures and live, real-time interaction. A lecture can be delivered to 16 locations across the world from the telepresence room. This process is interactive in the sense that questions can be asked by participants from different locations and can be answered by the faculty member in realtime. Movement-sensitive cameras in the room read the whiteboards and beam it to all locations. A document scanner makes it possible to project and share documents. Lecture rooms are modelled on facilities at global centres of learning. You can choose from a variety of seating patterns theatre seating, conference style or group discussion. Syndicate rooms allow for discussion and debate. Facilities exist for the conduct of deliberations in confidence. A library is the soul of every learning centre. The library stocked with over 5,000 titles in shelves spread in two floors. The library has been specially designed to meet the needs of the browser as well as the researcher. More books will be added soon and the book count is expected to reach 50,000. Apart from books periodicals, training manuals, games, and management movies for training sessions also form part of the library. The E-library at the LDA comprises e-books for both engineering and management, e-journals, e-newspapers, databases like EBSCO and PROQUEST. These are accessible by all employees of L&T. Recreational Facilities The LDA combines the rigours of learning with the softer hues of recreation. Being as we mentioned earlier, this is an area you wont have time to do justice to. But what is on offer includes a pool that conforms to international standards, and measures 25 m x 15 m. Only experienced swimmers are allowed to use it, and dont forget to carry along your swimsuit. Dotted with palm trees and lush flowering creepers, the poolside creates a relaxing ambience for evening events. The outdoor recreational facility at the LDA has a built-up area of 45550 sq.ft, and houses international-standard synthetic coated lawn tennis, basketball and volley ball courts. Apart from this, a

1.2 km jogging track is embellished with landscaped horticulture. If you wish to learn the basics of golf, make it a point to visit the Golf Putting Green on your next visit to the LDA. We have made arrangements to teach the basics of golf as it will come handy in networking. L&T-ites will, then, be ready to bond with clients over a game of golf, explains Mr. Neville Lobo. The indoor sports-cum-recreation facility offers games such as snooker, table tennis, carom, chess, playing cards, and a modern gymnasium in the ground floor. The first floor presents a calm and relaxed setting with its magnificent dcor conducive to activities such as yoga and meditation. Food For Thought Every detail has been considered in the design of the LDA. The cafeteria is impressive, generous and designed by people who obviously knew Napoleons dictum an army marches on its stomach. For L&Ts army of learners, the LDA provides two floors with two separate dining areas that can accommodate 300 diners at a time. Step 1 - Management Education Program: This eighteen-week program, specially customized by IIM-Ahmedabad, is spread over two years. The contact classes are held at the LDA. The pedagogy is based on case-studies, live projects and assignments designed to enable on-thejob application of learning. This aims at grooming young managers in

management skills at an early stage of their management career.

Step 2 - Leadership Development Program: Focusing on developing leadership capabilities through a comprehensive learning package, this program initially started with McKinsey & Company, is now being run by Corporate HR in partnership with the HR of various ICs. Step 3 - Global Leadership Development Program: Initiated in association with Stephen M. Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, USA, this program focuses on how to compete effectively in the global context, assess economic impact of global expansion

and develop leadership skills required for positive results. Step 4 - Transforming L&T Into A Global Corporation: Conducted in association with IIM Ahmedabad, the program is spread over four months

through three modules of three days each - Growing Through Strategic Acquisitions and Alliances, Managing

Enterprise Risk in a Turbulent World and Leadership, and Governance Challenges for Tomorrow. Step 5 - L&T Global CEOs Program: Conducted by Harvard Business School Professors, it is for enterprise leaders specially handpicked to be developed for future roles as CEOs / IC Heads / IC Board Members/ Business Leaders.
